Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

NIT Durgapur at a Glance

Likes

The Campus and Infrastructure of the college is very good.
The classrooms of New Academic Building(NAB) are very good
Considerable number of companies come for placements of core branches

Dislikes

The mess food is not that good , it could have been better
In the Medical Unit of the college most of the times many medicines are not available
The class room conditions of the Main Academic Building(MAB) are not that good

After 6th semester students are eligible for campus placements, provided they do not have an active backlog. There were more than 700 offers and more than 600 students were placed in the academic year 2022-23. The highest package was 70 LPA and the average CTC was 13.64 LPA.

Likes

Hostel rooms are nice.The campus is full of greenery.
There are so many clubs and fests also occur.
Sports and co circular activities are not neglected

Dislikes

Campus is small compared to other nits
Mess food is not quite good ,it can be improved.

Placement Experience:

From 4th year students become eligible for campus placements. Microsoft, amazon, etc. companies visited. The highest package is 46 lakhs per annum and the average package is nearly 12 lakhs per annum. Almost 80 percentage of students get placed.

Likes

palcement percentage and packages which is good enough.
comes in top 10 NITs and having a great alumni network.
various clubs and fest . there are so many things to explore.

Dislikes

75% attendance criteria . other wise grade will be deducted.
academics is strict . have to maintain to academic activity with and attendance.
hostel foods are not good enough and hostel facilities is also poor

Placement Experience:

After the 4th sem company visits for an internship and after the 6th for placement. total no of companies visited last year approx 200+. height package 70 lakhs avg 13.5 lakhs. placement percentage is 80 percent. my plan is to get a job in mncs.

I have a personal interest in computer science and engineering mainly interested in doing codingmFaculty will help us in academics. Each and every faculty maximum completed their PHD. Exams were not as much tougher as we thought if we followed the class then we absolutely scored well.

Opportunities and cultural activities at college
There exists a great coding environment and more emphasis on competitive programming
Lots of scope for web and open source development

Curriculum is a bit outdated considering the growth in technology recently

The campus placement is pretty good this year the highest package was 70 lacs and the average package was around 14 lacs more than 85 percent were placed in the majority of the departments the placement in both circuital and core branches was good

A diverse student culture from all over India and neighbouring countries.
Very good extracurricular activities and fest.

The internship opportunity starts from the 5th semester which is from the 3rd year. The core companies include Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Metallics, Jindal Steel, Vedanta, etc company visits for recruitment. Also, tech companies are Microsoft, Amazon, JPMC, wells Fargo, Atlassian, PWC, Accenture, tcs, etc.

Well equipped labs with proper working conditions
Huge campus with good sports facilities and gyms

Placement Experience:

From the seventh semester, the students are eligible for on-campus placement. Companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, G-Socs, etc visit here. The highest package is approx 70 Lpa. And the average package is 12 LPA. 85% of students are getting placements. In ece branch, the average package is 17.5lpa which is quite good. I will think about the future according to the situation and data.

The condition of some grounds are not good.

Placement Experience:

Placement starts for the seventh semester onwards and students are eligible for on-campus placement. Companies like G-Shock, Goldman Sachs, Oracle, IBM etc. The Highest package offered in 2023 is 70 lpa which is quite impressive. The average pakage is 12 lpa according to 2023.The median pakage is 8 lpa.I have a plan to start my self-business.

Placement Experience:

Placemets are quite hood on the campus nit Durgapur specially trains and encourages the students to sit for internships and placements. A student is eligible to sit for the internships at the beginning of the third and placements from the beginning of the final year.. a student can manage to get a PPO after completing the internship in the 3rd which is also encouraged by the student. The other criteria regarding placements and internships are quite well-defined on the NIT DGPS website.

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
