Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

Placement cell is good and the opportunities are available in the college itself and it's upon you to go for off-campus placements as well, along with it you can opt for higher studies as well, the number of the core, as well as non-core companies, are enough for you to be placed by the campus itself.

NIT Durgapur in my eyes

Likes

I like the Greenery and cleanliness of the campus.
Classrooms are equipped with multiple ACs, Projectors and comfortable sitting arrangement for students.
Hostel facilities provided to the student is quite good.

Dislikes

Instability of internet in students hostel.
Hectic academic schedule throughout the semester.
Some old classroom do not have comfortable sitting arrangement.

Placement Experience:

Placement is increasing year by year. More than 80% of students get placed every year. The highest package offered in 2023 was 57 lpa. The average package is also good. It is around 13.5 lpa. Some PSUs like BPCL and Bharat Electronics visit the campus for recruitment. Other Major recruiters are Microsoft, Wipro, JPMC, Texas Instruments, etc.

Likes

College life is very good we enjoy a lot we can do whatever we want.there are no restriction here we can explore our life
Infrastructure is very good . It's also good as environment there are greenary every where hostel are good
Student clubs so we explore new domain and learn things like web d and gd , video editing and make a personality

Dislikes

Faculty are very strict they don't give marks and give supply and backlog to the students
Food quality is very poor in the mess specially in veg and they. Charge high fee for this low quality food
Slow network of wifi in the hostel and random power cuts

Placement Experience:

We are eligible for our placement in the 7th semester. Microsoft gives the highest package of 50 lacs and jpmc gives the highest package of 33 lacs. 90 percent of students get placed. My plans are to get placed in an IT company after the placement.

I like the college premises, fest conducted and nothing much

Dislikes

I think the college is small tho roam here and there . And nothing is there in this city and mess food should be improved

From the 6th semester placements start. More than 800 students are placed and the placement percentage is 86%. the highest package is 50 lakhs which Is from the metallurgy branch Many big companies like Amazon, Microsoft, blackbug, Wipro etc. have come for placements. I have to do ms in abroad

Small college when compared to others colleges.

Placement Experience:

Placements start from the 6th semester. Interns are also given in college and companies will come to college and give jobs who are eligible for the company and the post. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, blackbucks, etc. came to our college and the highest package is 50 lakhs and the average is 15 lakhs and 82 percent of people got placed. Getting better jobs and fulfilling their dreams.

A good numbers of girls in mechanical brunch
best brunch is our college is ECE (Electronics)
campus life is decent if you have a girlfriend, otherwise it is little bit difficult to survive here

Dislikes

Attendance criteria (75%), which is very tough to maintain.If your attendance is <75% and >50%, your grade will be deducted by 1.
Hostel accomodation in last year is very bad, tripple shared room is given.
In every hall Mess food is very bad, unhealthy

Placement Experience:

From the 7th sem, students can seat for campus placement. Most of the company looks for students with no supply or active backlog with a decent CGPA(>7 or >7.5). Trilogy is one of the companies which visits every year and makes no offer. Microsoft is the dream company of every student who wants to get into tech, Microsoft offered around 51lpa ctc last year. Placement percentage is 80-85%.

NIT Durgapur at a glance

Likes

Campus life is good. You get great exposures with the seniors and faculty
2 big grounds are there for sports activity
Placements are good, more than 150+ companies participate in the placement process.

Dislikes

Attendace criteria,you have to maintain a minimum of 75% attedance otherwise your grade will be deducted.
Mess food , the menu is great but sometimes the food is not.
Hostel condition,old hostels are there with negligible renovation

Placement Experience:

For internships At the start of 3rd year, companies come to the college for a summer internship program and one can also apply off campus. For placements Companies start coming from the very first month of your fourth year. Highest package(2022-23):70 lakhs. Average package(2022-23):13.5 lakhs.

A blurry experience

Likes

I like the freedom they give to the students to go out and mingle with everyone.
I like the club events and interaction between seniors.

Dislikes

I dislike "Mainly" the hostel food which is not at all good.

Placement Experience:

There are good placements for my branch. My branch ECE has the highest placement percentage this year. I guess many good companies like Amazon, Microsoft, etc. will recruit some of the students. My plan if I don't get placed is to start a mini startup with a good idea that will excel in future.

Life in Durgapur

Likes

The thing I like most is the campus life of NIT Durgapur
The weather of NIT Durgapur proper and suitable for the student
Faculties are also good affinity Durgapur

Dislikes

I didn't like the sudden weather change in Durgapur
And I'll dislike the restriction of NIT Durgapur

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because the profile came to know that the professor of this college is very good for the mechanical branch the faculty and student ratio is good for the study of the student qualification of the faculty and review teacher is like that they are good in English and they no proper way of teaching the timing of the term of the exam is first exam is midterm in which the question is of 25 marks and we have to give at least 20 marks answer it is conducted after 3 months of the beginning of the course and after the midterm exam there is another in term exam.

Likes

I like the infrastructure and the studies not only that here we are having different activities.

Dislikes

The campus is some what small when compared to the other campuses.

From 6th semester students are eligible for campus placements. Like 70 to 80 companies visit and for nearly 700 650 members are placed this year placements are good enough. we have a placement percentage of 92% which is fairly good This year the highest package was 50 lakhs and this is from the marketing department. we can opt for higher studies also or else can go to the job.

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
