Venky - Worth it or not?

Likes

The faculty at our college is super supportive. The professors deliver clear lectures and are always ready to help students out.
Infrastructure is good compared to other DU colleges.
Fests at our college are a major stress relief!!

Dislikes

Societies are somewhat toxic. I had to leave them because they were major distraction.
The drainage system outside college creates a lot of fuss !!! It smells too much and no particular action is taken regarding it.

Placement Experience:

Placements are average. 21 Lac something was the highest Placement!! not everyone can grab that opportunity Ofcourse! i was dependent on college placement but my seniors gave reality check at time of orientation lol. so its better to pursue something side by side or prepare for gov jobs.

Likes

Infrastructure of the college is very good, very green and healthy environment.
Teachers are very interactive and provide good guidance
Good exposure to internships and public service programmes.

Dislikes

Admin department is kind of slow and needs some improvements.
Students are not very open to communicate.
Maintenance of cricket pitch and ground is not timely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are some positive and some negative aspects of this course. The things which drove to take this course is the uniqueness and my interest in the subject. The negative aspect is the less career opportunities in comparison to other courses.

Likes

College has better infrastructure than other du college and has well qualified staff.One more thing is it has best best among du colleges that is nexus .
It’s very strict with discipline and security. You can enter the college without proper verification
The canteen is aslo good. Best south indian food and also the magie point

Dislikes

Auditorium isn’t complete yet , college lacks there . Such big college should have a audi
Majority of the staff is from south which causes a language barrier for students of north side.
There is a sewage leak just outisde the college which causes very unpleasant smell and can be a source of many infections and collage isn’t taking any necessary action to resolve that.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The cousre is good and the syllabus is aslo good for further competative exams and as per present demands and teacher are also knowledgeable and nost of them are phd holders. As im from arts strems we don't have more than 3-4 classes a day and exams are very easy and from comes from what we have taught.

Sri Venkateswara college is located in Dhaula Kuan Satya Niketan. It is well connected with metro, the nearest metro station is Durga Bai Deshmukh South Campus.
It is one of the best college in DU. All the faculty members have PhD from highly reputed Universities. It's annual cultural fest Nexus is ome of its kind this year Mohit Chauhan was the star performer
There are different buildings for different streams science Arts and commerce. It has an auditorium and seminar room. The college ECA societies are also well known in DU circuit.

Dislikes

It is located in bit expensive locality. Satya Niketan is expensive area, the PG prices are also high
College Admin is very hard to handle with.
College has diversity but sometimes seem to be dominated by sone regional groups

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am pursuing major's in sociology. We fall under New Education policy batch. We have total 7 papers in first two years in each semester. There are various newly added sub discipline which are of its own kind eg. Sociology of fassion. The courses are highly academic and research based. We are suppose to do references and make presentation on its daily life experience and application

The faculties of lifescience department including chemistry,botany and zoology facilities are so good as they explain each and every concept in such a way that develops our interest in particular field .
Biochemistry faculties are also good their practicals are so interesting as it provide a way we can further go in future in these are well prior known to many teachniques use in biochemistry.
infrastructure facilities are so good we have 5G wifi network in library ,beautiful botanical garden,canteen food is so good our dosa is very famous as venky dosa ;price are cheap and affordable ,quality food.

Dislikes

There is so much water logging,sewage issues near our entry gate that is disgusting.
we have a backside gate which opens to metro station exit point but it is still under maintenance and not opened yet.
in canteen chairs and tables are less mostly canteen is too crowded during lunch time and getting a place to sit is difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements from our college is pretty well. students from semester 5 become eligible for placements.In total ,49 companies offers 300 + internship offers to students. highest package was 21.5 LPA offered by DE SHAW .Lowest package is 4LPA . After doing this degree we can further go for Msc ,then higher studies and any other research field .

Likes

Way of teaching and interacting with students is very good and effective
Classes are held regularly and syllabus is completed with time.
Providing opportunities for students regarding interships and workshops.

Dislikes

Six out of seven days classes are there .
Using projectors more for teaching instead of boards
Attendance is strictly marked and dont give marks in continuous assessment.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is good . It's reduced but that's not appreciated because it'll effect our future studies if we will not study and leave some part. Still teachers are teaching complete curriculum. It's related to future studies and competitive exams.

Faculty is amazing they are very experienced and helpful
Infrastructure is beautiful we have a small temple of venkateshwara also in our college, botanical garden, rock garden, foyer area are just beautiful

Dislikes

College Distance is lot from my home and Pg conditions are not much good their price is hyped up and sanitation is not proper.
Sewage problem happen in front of our college many times and footpath in front of our college is broken and garbage is their
Cafeteria is very costly and nearest market satya niketan is very costly.

Placement Experience:

Just after graduation, you can not expect much salary from Delhi University Colleges you can get 20000 roughly in a month. In the third year, our college provides placements but most people go for higher studies.

My View on my college: Sri Venketeshwara College

Likes

Classrooms with adequate amount of seatings and competent teaching staffs
Library with all types of books available and air conditioned reading rooms
Canteen with affordable food pricing and lawns and gardens to hangout with friends

Dislikes

Unfinished work and isolated location of auditorium
Hectic scheduling of classes with bare minimum intervals
Indoor game facilities are not available in college

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because it can provide me a platform with relevant study material for my future prospects and plans to pursue my career in charted accountancy. Curriculum is prepared by the university of delhi which makes clear understanding of the concepts and gives some relevance to the real life scenarios and make us understand the concepts of real life markets and business. Exams are held at the end of every semester with moderate difficulty which can be cracked with mild preparation apart from that students needs to perform well in Continuous Assessment and Internal Assessment as they are part of practicals.

college canteen is the best things in the college with various food types and the cost is minimum.All things are provided by the college andthere is a separate maggie point also.Moreover the cleaning facility is also good with timely cleaning and bin
Sri Venkateswara College provides good sports facilites.Many sports can be played here like football ,cricket, badminton, basketball, lawn tennis chess, table tennis, carrom,etc.You can also borrow equipments from the college to play the sports.
The college has many societies for a student's overall developement and opportunities.A student can join multiple societies and learn to arrange events .A student can socialize with different students from different courses and enlarge their circle.

Dislikes

Common sitting area inside the college with chairs is very less near the canteen. There are only a few seats inside the shed which are always occupies and most of the times dirty,and the other sitting chairs near canteen are in the open.
Time Table and class number are a bit messy sometimes . For a new student, understanding the time table is very difficult even after seeking help from other. The classes are scattered and sometimes they don't even happen where they should be.
There are a lot of dogs in the college roaming around near the canteen. They don't even let the students eat food peacefully, they come near the eating person. Sometimes they fight and scare the hell out of students. The number of dogs should be less

Placement Experience:

The placements of the college are pretty good and decent . A student can get a good package after graduating from this college . A student can become eligible for placements in the third year of his/her studies and comprises of various rounds of interviews and group discussions . The number of companies visited the college were around 90 , there were 200+ offers made . Several companies which visited the college were De Shaw & Co , KPMG , Delloite , Bajaj Capital , etc . Highest package was 29.7 lakhs and average package was 5.9 lakhs . The company which offered the highest package was De Shaw & Co. The percentage of students getting placed is over 70% . My plans after getting the degree is to pursue for higher education in masters and get dual degree from Sri Venkateswara college and another reputed college for better placements in future . Sri Venkateswara College degree is very valuable in every field as this college provides variety of courses under Delhi University (DU) .

My College Life At VENKY

Many faculty members are best in their respective field. It could be said that they are experts in their subjects.
Most of the labs are very good provided with essential chemicals and instruments.
Gardens here are very good. In the months of February and March the garden is flooded with flowers that are a view to watch. Even the botanical garden is maintained throughout the year.

Dislikes

Some teaching faculty aren't good at teaching and most often they are given subjects opposite of their interest and they end up teaching even worse.
Labs are not maintained properly. The instruments there need to be furnished every now and then. Ecen the chemicals need to be renewed.
Canteen here is open. Many animals particularly dogs are free to roam in the canteen area where they even lick the plates inviting loads of diseases.

I chose this course because I was interested in this since class 12th. The curriculum prepares us for the outside world by giving multiple opportunities. According to me the areas for improvements in the course curriculum and teaching methods could be 1. The teachers must use chalk board method more than just presenting the ppts. 2. The number of projectors in theory classes must be increased. 3. The syllabus should be more practical oriented. 4. The materials in the labs must be checked and renewed from time to time. The exams are held semester wise and only the exams take more than a month that must be reduced. The difficulty level is normal most of the times though it will be better if the timing gets increased.

My cousin was a student of Mathematics at Sri Venkateswara College. Based on her experience in the same I will list down some key features of the college:

Faculty- The faculty of this college is without that the best. The professors of Mathematics and even other courses will make you fall in love with the subject. Just stay committed to your course.
Infrastructure- Since you will spend a few years in college, infrastructure matters a lot. Classrooms are well-designed and laboratories are well-equipped. Hostel accommodation is provided for the topper of each course. A new science block is being constructed to add to its infrastructure.
Extracurricular activities- If you are a student here, you will get enough exposure to develop your personality. Apart from academics, this college has a list of glamour studded societies in every field.
Placements- The science students get lesser opportunities as compared to others. A package of around 5-6 LPA is offered to Economic students.
Nexus- This is the most awaited cultural fest of the college. It’s a 3-day fest with a list of versatile activities. It’s the most glamorous event in the college.
Sports- The college has a lush green field with a modern cricket pitch. It also has teams in almost every game like Cricket, Football, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Chess, Athletics, Squash.
