It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.

Dislikes

The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

Vibrant college life at NIT Rourkela

Likes

Excellent environment for studies. Good competition with branchmates.
Vibrant fests to enjoy and active clubs to make your time at college memorable.
Campus is very beautiful and greenery everywhere.

Dislikes

Hostes rooms are too small here.. especially in girls hostel.
Food in mess is boring to consume ..repeating the same items.
Attendance are too strict as compared to other colleges..ie., about 85%.

Course Curriculum Overview:

From my higher school days..I was having interest in science field basically in the field where there is the application of maths and chemistry. When I have searched more about the curriculum of chemical engineering I found some of the very interesting subjects such as chemical process calculations, mass transfer, heat transfer, fluid mechanics and so on. All because of mine keen interest on these subjects i choosed up this branch. This branch is having a lot of real world applications in oil and refineries, in petrochemical power plants and in various other industries. The overall course curriculum of chemical engineering I think excellent at nit Rourkela. One can learn a lot from labs and courses. Exams are held twice in a year..some subjects are easy to handle while some requires continuos efforts and practice to get a good grade. Superb branch of u want to be an excellent industrialist and to contribute to the technological and environmental advancement aspects.

I liked the campus a lot as it is very beautiful and safe as well
I liked the festivals as there are a lot of them going on!
The campus is a fully anti ragging campus so freshers can enjoy to the fullest

Dislikes

Hostel rooms are very small and it gets hot
The summers are really hot in this city and no air conditioning in hostels
The attendance percentage is too high it's literally 87.5%

Placement Experience:

From third year students get placements and internships. Big Tech companies like Amazon and Microsoft also visit the campus. The highest package was 52 lpa last year offered by Microsoft and Amazon. Over 90 percent students get placed on campus and I also plan to get an on campus placement.

There are tress and flowers everywhere, i like the greenery and cleanliness of the campus.

Dislikes

Professors giving less internal marks judging only on the basis of class tests is very bad, as it is a college and not a school.
Girls in time of hostels should be done just like the boys hostel time, as girls and boys are equal

Nit Rourkela Overview.

Likes

Campus Infrastruture is amazing, everywhere fresh air with lots of good visuals can be found.
There are various clubs to facilitate students about their intrests, these clubs also help in their campus placement.

Dislikes

There is some form of communism between certain groups of people, who creates a language barrier.
Teaching methodolgy can be improved, its not that bad but still there is room for improvement.
Meaningful subjects in the first year can be introduced.

Placement Experience:

For Campus Placements , we are eligible after our 6th semester. there are various companies who visit ranging from small startups to big MNC's . Almost all the companies list can be found in the placement brochure which is availabe in our college website.Highest package is around 55lpa and lowest is around 4-5 lpa. Percantage of students getting placed is about 90%. My plans is to get a job and move forward in my career.

The campus and the labs and location of the campus near mountain
The labs and library where evrything is available
The institute mail where it gives free acces or discount to many softwares

Dislikes

The mess menu in our hostel was not too good
My faculty advisor for the first year he was very rude

Placement Experience:

The placements ar good where many major coampanies recruite many stustendts like google microsoft and amazon,etc .Where many indian comapnies also come like tata mahindra etc.The highest package was 83 lpa and avarage is 13.89 lpa

Campus, Clubs, sports, food , Hostel Management.
Shops inside campus, Indoor games, Gym facilities
DC, its a hub where you can get all type of movies, study material for free with LAN Connection

Dislikes

During registration if u get little problem
then it gonna take a lot time to register and then u will face so many consequences of missing class
Teaching from faculty is not that good. 90% study by theie own

Placement Experience:

Placement percentage is always more than 98. Average depend upon branch. like for CS its like 14 lpa. Students got eligible for internship from 3rd year and some companies offer to 2nd year also. Placement policy is good. For full time employment (FTE) from your 6th sem end it will start and it will go on till 4th year end + 6 more months. Best companies : Google , Amazon , Myntra , etc. 99% get placements easily.

Great campus life and hostel life . One can chill at every time .
Friends are great and helpful .they are very helpful
Placement Status is good so one can expect to be placed after the 4 year of hectic course.

Dislikes

Attendance and academic policies are a bit hectic
If you are from IT background like CSE OR ELECTRONICS you will get ample amount of internship in your third year and the stats are very good like Amazon Microsoft also intern from here. For core there is not much about internship but for mechanical e

Placement Experience:

OnCampus Placement of students is carried out by the Career Development Center of NIT Rourkela. Placements depend on the industry needs and most students are placed in software-based or Analytics and Consultancy Companies. There are a few good opportunities for students applying to Core Companies but they need a good CGPA and sometimes a GATE score to get placed in PSUs.According to last year's placement record, 8 students were offered 52.08 LPA by Amazon Web Service and this was the highest package. The average package is 11.5 LPA for the college and 24 LPA for CSE Department Students. 98% of placement records are in CSE Department

Likes

I liked the campus infrastructure. The campus too spacious ,green
Clubs are pretty active . Healthy competitions always go on between the clubs
The college Allows nri students to study thru dasa admission process which brings about diversity in college

Dislikes

The city Rourkela is pretty undeveloped. There are not much recreational sites in the city
The hostel facilities are pretty bad . There is internet and rooms are smalll
Due home state quota most of the students are from odisha itself and they form their own groups . We people from other states feel cornered for a bit

Placement Experience:

Form 6th semester , students stand for placements. We hear that the placements are pretty good. For internship students from second yr get good oppurtunities. Companies like google,coca cola,amazon come for placements.

NICE COLLEGE

Likes

the campus here is very good and lively.
as this campus is one of the largest campus in India so greenery is high.
As there are people from various background so it feels good to make contact with them.

Dislikes

the curriculum is very much strict in this college.
there is very much high competition among the students here.
As this college is in Rourkela so distance from home is very much.

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester students are eligible for campus placement.Major tech companies like Microsoft ,qualcomm, texas instruments and many more . 98 percent are placed. the number of companies are around 90-100 who visit our campus.

The club culture is very helpful in various exposure activities and
The Academics are very nice. Also the Professors are very cooperative.

Dislikes

The 85 percent attendance criteria .
The foods in the rourkela is quite high than other cities.

The placement scenario of NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ROURKELA is very good. In previous year more than 24 students got over 50LPA package and more than 210 students had got packages over 20LPA...

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
