It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.

Dislikes

The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

NIT Rourkela has strong alumni network that includes successful professionals in various fields.
the institute holds various technical and cultural festivals that attracts participations from student across the country.
NIT Rourkela has a good placement record. Many reputed companies visit the campus for recruitment

Dislikes

the campus is located in Rourkela, which is relatively smaller town , a developed city is needed.
the weather is tropical weather, it has to face harsh climatic conditions such as heavy rain and high humid conditions
the campus requires new and modern infrastructure to accomodate new variety of students

Course Curriculum Overview:

Electrical engineering was that i opted for . It is one of the top branches and it has one of the highest average package in terms of placements.Also the curiculem is well diverse . Not only we were taught electrical but only electronics.

Things to know before joining NITR

Likes

All the clubs here are highly active and they provide us a broader perspective towards our interest.
Medical facilities are really good and neurologists are also available in our despensary.
The placement opportunities here are marvellous.

Dislikes

Restriction for outings in hostels after a certain period.
The way faculties teach really need to be improved.
In the campus a lot of stray dogs could be found which is quite scary

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was always interested in physics and mechanics, so in order to pursue a career in this field I chose this course.Faculty and student ratio is about 1:60 . Even though it's heard that faculties are highly qualified but still I feel they lack in teaching skills. Teaching method surely needs to be improved as till the day of exam we won't be sure about the syllabus. Per semester with a gap of 2 months midsem and endsem exams were conducted and for passing one has to study 2 weeks prior to exams.

College was very vast, You can chill with friends, If you are a southern guy, You can develop your Hindi and English language skills very well.
College have very good placements, You can develop your own skills and can have your own bet on placements to get placed
College was around 1300 acres and have so many things to roam around the institute.

Dislikes

I have not satisfied with mess meals and some other food items outside also.
Some what backward area, even though Rourkela was medium grade city.
Things like Disliked are very few but non satisfactory things will be there, You have to adjust

Placement Experience:

from 7th semester you are available for campus placements generally, So many visists the institue, I never taken attention to how many companies are visiting, but I have an Idea all decent as per studies are placed, if your looking for premium packaged placed well moderately averaged students will be present. for 22-23 year highest placed got greater 80lpa CTC by Microsoft. As previous said more than 90% students are placed every year. To have a decent job and to accumulate funds for MBA or MTech or to have my chance with Government jobs and Civil services.

NIT Rourkela: An In-Depth Review

Likes

The best about every college life is the Campus Environment, Club culture, sports activities
Different fests like Tech fests , cultural fests, sports fest and the best of all : The Celebrity Night

Dislikes

Somes the attitude of the professors gets to your nerves
The student activity Centre(SAC) , responsible for providing an opportunity for co-curricular activities is not transparent and doesn't provide sufficient funds for the development of the students

Placement Experience:

The campus placement start from the begining of the fourth semester( 7th semester). Many top tier companier come for placement such as Sprinkler, Microsoft, UiPath, Oracle, Texas Instrument, Qualcomm, Accenture, TCS, Deloitte, Amazon, American Express, Visa, Natwest, BNY, Barclays, Wells Fargo, SAP Labs, etc and many more. The highest Package offered this year was 64 LPA. Profiles offered are mostly related to Software development(SDE role). From my branch(CSE) a minimum of 98 percent students get placed every year.

KNOW ABOUT NIT ROURKELA -- THE PROS AND CONS

Likes

Very flexible time table and a lot of time will be getting for learn and explore new things.
class rooms were air conditioned and there are projectors in every class room.
infrastructure was good and faculty members are supportive and decent number of fests are being conducted every year i.e around 4 to 5.

Dislikes

placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

Coming to placement scenario.. 1)From 3rd year onward companies will come to hire you as an interns by giving internships that may be paid or unpaid. 2)We can try in different sectors like CORE,IT and we can study for abroad studies also. 3)If no placement happend we can go for GATE exam and CAT exam for MBA studies etc..that is abse don our intrest. 4)In our branch the placement stats tells around 90% students are placed.

Experience at NITR

Likes

Campus life is great as you have opportunity to experience everything.
Course- courses are well designed and accordance to the GATE pattern
Fest- many fests organises helps you to chill out of the exam pressure and will make you feel good

Dislikes

Strict attendence policy- as many have suffered due to this.
Low boys to girls ratio which makes you feel like same gender person are surrounded every where
Huge campus- which is sometime very much irritating to cycling 2-3km to reach lecture hall and academic offices

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester students are eligible to sit for campus placements. Some the major campus visits are Microsoft, Oracle, Wels fargo, Barclays, Accenture, BPCL, ONGC, Tata steel, Vedanta, Nation with Namo, etc. And may more. Almost more than 90% placed in each branch with min og 90% in civil dept. While many branches have 100% placements record. My plan after degree is to pursue higher studies.

NITR- An unexpected gem

Likes

We really had freedom of pursuing many things
The club culture in NIT Rourkela is really fun.
Extra curricular activities like swimming, sports etc.

Dislikes

Security guards are everywhere. They are rude too.

Placement Experience:

National institute of technology really has very good placements. Most of the students and circuital branches are placed by the end of the placement season. Recently placements in other has also increased. Average package varies branchwise.

Campus is large and spacious.you can enjoy alot in the campus.
I like fests and sports grounds very much.
Hostel food is also managable compared to other colleges.

Dislikes

Faculty teaching lessons boringly.They do have knowledge but not the skills.
Not much people can participate in all the events of the college.

Placement Experience:

Placements will start from 5th semester for interns or part time,for full time it will start from 7th semester .so many companies will visit the campus like oracle,amazon,Texas etc.. Highest package is around 50L and the average package is around 10L.

Ground truths of NIT Rourkela

Likes

Culture, peer groups, clubs, hostel facilities are decent having the indoor and outdoor game facilities also having really great gardens outside.
The infrastructure is one of the best in India. The campus is really huge and adds lots of memories. It also has lots of reataurants inside it.
Most of the professors of my branch are really approachable, and very helpul for projects.

Dislikes

Sometimes the food is not of good quality in mess and sometimes the staff behaviour is not nice.
The studies here for circuital branches is really hectic and less time for extra curricular.
Just before endsems some professor just dont teach nicely and teach for sake of completing the course , hence adding lots of pressure during endsem exams

Placement Experience:

Placements are quite good in our college. Almost everybody can get placed if they have decent preparartions. For branches like circuital , Cs and mining its 100% most of the time. There were 1000 offers for btech courses last year in 2023. Higest package was 91 lpa from Uipath from Elcetronics and Instrumentation Engineering and lowest was 4 lpa from utkarsh small finance bank. The other companies they come are Microsoft, Oracle , texas instruments , qualcomm , American express , John deere and many more. My plan is get a job in core industry in company such as texas instruments or qualcomm or any better company.

The college is the best

The diversity and atmosphere of the college. Fests and amazing faculty who are always there for you and guide you in the right way for the success and good placement opportunities in the college
The Greenery of the college and environment is so peaceful and always gives you pleasure to walk and explore the college. So good and well built infrastructure gives you boost to do well in your career and i really love the way this college is ...
The restaurant and night canteen are best and food of these restaurant are so so tasty that you will never gonna miss you home food again. So many good dishes and neat and clean places gives you best best feel to be in this college.

Dislikes

The home state quata is the worst move by the central government and the have to look into this

Placement Experience:

The student are eligible for compus placements from 7th semester. There are 40+ companies that visited for mechanical engineering students and amazing offers were made. 32LPA is the highest package offered for a mechanical engineering students. Almost 90 percent of the students get placed. I have very good plans after I get the degree

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
