SVNIT - Pros & Cons

Likes

Higher chances and easier to get placements doe to the companies reaching out directly.
The freedom provided to the students when compared to other Colleges.

Dislikes

The infrastructure was not up to the mark.
Orthodox teaching methods at few places in the classes & labs which do not go well with the modern world.

Placement Experience:

Internships are offered from Sem-5&6. Placements are nearly guaranteed for those who get internships. Circuital branches have a higher placement possibility. Nearly 80% of students get campus placements. The highest package in the campus is 40 lakhs and the average of CSE is 15 lakhs. The overall avg package is 10 lakhs. Try out a job and then plan to start a side income platform.

SVNIT's RIDE

Campus ,,,its campus is so beautiful where u see peacococks , birds everyday.
there variety of clubs which will let my personality grow as an individual.
its central library which is so big , comfortable to study without any disturbance.

Dislikes

one thing that i disliked about my clg is its hostel rules for the first year which are very strict for the first year boys.
some basic but bad rules of svnit such as attendance must be above 75% and intime for main gate is 10:30

Course Curriculum Overview:

Generally, students who see their future in engineering want CSE dept.> ECE dept. but u get your college according to your results of jee mains. so I got ece dept and now I m enjoying my journey of engineering. There are about 2 faculty per subject and the ratio is about 1 faculty to 15 students. Every faculty holds a good and reputed degree (eg. Ph.D..) and their teaching method is very simple and efficient and pretty good to understand. Midterm exams are in about 45 days from the start and the end sems are 30 days after mid-seems in the first year. they are of easy to medium level and can be scored well.

Placement Experience:

Students Can Apply In 4Th Year For College Placements. Companies Like Microsoft, Google And Many Mnc Visit The Campus And Provide Good Packages. The Highest Package Made Last Year Was 42 Lpa In Cse Branch For Mechanical It Was Around 18.5Lpa. Approx 80 Percent of Students Get College Placements. My Plans Include Appearing For Gate Exam After The Degree.

Faculties of my department. They are very chill
Placement of my college is great. Average for my department is around 15 lakhs.
Location of college is great. Everything you need is in 1 km radius of college

Dislikes

Administration of our college is pathetic. They donnt listen to students.
Rules of our college are strict and useless. There is a gate closing time of our college which is around 10:30 pm.
Fines in hostel. They will fine you heavy amount without telling you reason.

Placement Experience:

After completion of 3rd year, students become eligible for the campus placement. Companies like Amazon, JP Morgan, DE Shaw, discovery, Mercedes, Nvidia, and texas instruments have visited our campus. The highest domestic package of our college and my department is 44 lakhs this year and average of my department is around 15 lakhs. Some got international packages also.

Short story about SVNIT SURAT.

Likes

Faculty members of the institute, as they teaches so deeply .
Seniors are very friendly, they tell about everything.
Whether that is so awesome, temperature maintained during all the year exept some months.

Dislikes

Infrastructure is not too good, as maintanence work is going on all the time.
Games facilities are poor, as cricket ground is not maintained, and other grounds are also in poor condition.
In summer time their is a very humidity in environment.

Placement Experience:

The placement process at SVNIT involves inviting companies for recruitment drives, organising pre-placement talks and interviews, and facilitating the placement process. Many reputed companies from various industries visit the campus for recruitment. As Microsoft ,Google ,Amazon Tata Motors ,L&T ,Reliance Industries Adani Group ,Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Infotech. Off-campus Placements, Higher Studies, Skill Development Programs etc. As per my plan i want to study higher education. 60% students get their Placements.

Hostel facility: it is having one of best hostel facility over all India national institute of engineering in government sectors
Excellent student welfare department based on anti ragging squads. There is not a chance of ragging of any student in this campus .anti ragging squads are very tough on seniors they don't even allow to meet juniors of first year to senior for 3months

Dislikes

Poor campus and infrastructure . There is no investment on campus infrastructure ,there is no good place to even click a photo with friends.
Buildings in campus are not good enough they are of full scams and frauds . They are going to demolished

From 6th sem students become eligible for campus placements. The top companies visiting are - Microsoft, Adobe, Tata, MG, Chevrolet, Suzuki, John dheer, Bharat electronics limited, reliance, and many many more. The Highest package: 40-50 lpa. Average package: around 10 lpa. For CSE and ECE placement %: more than 98%. For mechanical, Electrical, and chemical: 80-85% For civil 75-80% My plans after getting the degree is to get a placement in tech field and have a nice job.

A Glimpse of SVNIT

Likes

The location of the college in a metropolis is the main attraction.
The diversity of the students from every corner of the country.
The freedom enjoyed to follow our passion rather than just attend college

Dislikes

The constant slip in the NIRF ranking of the college.
No personalised teaching as in private institutions
The obsession with just one sport Cricket and negligence towards others

Placement Experience:

SVNIT offers good placements. Students begin to recieve offers from 6th sem onwards. Companies visiting the campus include Accenture, Samsung, Byjus, Google, Goldman Sachs, Federal Bank and amny more. The highest package was 40LPA (domestic) in the year 2022. Average placement for all branches is 10LPA and for CSE the average is around 15 LPA. Percentage of students placed was 80%. For MSc Mathematics, the average was thrid highest among all branches in 2022 which stood at 9.22 LPA. As I have a passion towards economics, I will look for similar jobs and services as it is also aligned towards mathematics.

Likes

Different student chapters and clubs make students engaged in cocurricular activities
Hostel rooms are nice to live with people like you
Faculties are highly helping in nature for studies

Dislikes

Mess food is not so good. Thus students have to go out for food.
Campus roads were not good in 2022. But now they have developed a lot
LAN and wifi connectivity is not constant.

Placement Experience:

In 3rd year, you are eligible for internships for approximately 2 months and have a stipend of a good amount. Before the end semester exams of the 8th semester, you will get placed in campus interviews and will get a job before graduation.

My side of view

Likes

Hostel life is good here because I made lots of friends to hangout with.
Location of the SVNIT is at the best place. It is at the Centre of the City. And Airport and railway station is near.
Library of Svnit is good, there are lots of books and you can study there in exam time.

Dislikes

It doesn't have auditorium of it's own, because of which Canteen areas is decorated for any occasions.
Playground of Svnit is not good for playing.
Mess Food is very bad and you will not get Non - veg in mess

Many companies visit our campus for internship opportunities such jpmc, Barclay, gap, etc. To get through this it is important to have a solid understanding of fundamental concepts and to have a nice project. The internship period is of 2 months and get in summer vacation period. You can get a research internship in the college itself under the professors, google, Microsoft, Amazon, l and t, TVs and many companies who visited every year for internships with a good amount of stipend and opportunities.

The highest package is 18 lakh in mechanical engineering an average of around 10 or 8 lakh. Most around 80 to 90 percent of students got placed. Various companies such as Tata, steel, motors, and all types of automobile companies.

My review of SVNIT is a mixed one. It is a good choice in almost every aspect other than sports.

For sports enthusiasts, SVNIT is not the right choice. The condition of sports facilities at our college is not good. The sports grounds are not in a good shape. The cricket/football ground becomes a grassland from July to December.

The indoor badminton courts, which are two in number, are immensely insufficient to cater to around 4000 students. Each one has to wait a long time for their turn, and is given around 10 minutes to play the sport. Such a huge number of students can not access the badminton courts for sufficient durations. MMNCT is the best sports event of the year. It is an inter-year cricket tournament that takes place at night. The gym is well designed and has all the modern equipment.

Many classes are boring. But a lot of the professors, especially in the Civil department, teach really well. The marking system is very transparent, and after 15-30 days post the exams, answer sheets are made available for students to have a look. The classrooms are also very school-like in appearance. The rules are lenient, and most teachers are satisfied with a 60% student attendance.

The location is quite good, and malls, theaters, etc. are easily accessible. The campus is located in a posh area of Surat. Places like Mumbai, Daman, etc. are easily accessible for getaways. The placements are top notch, the clubs are plenty and quite decent. The mess food is quite good as well.

Unless you are very serious about getting the best sports facilities, SVNIT is a good college. But for sports facilities, I would recommend you try for MNIT Jaipur.
