Likes

lush green campus spread over 250 acres of land
good placements and final year internship opportunities
decent cultural and technical annual fests

Dislikes

75 percent attendance policy strictly followed
strict in and out timings of hostel as well as campus gate
no proper sports culture and playground to play

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester more than 100 companies visited the campus and gave more than 150 offers. highest package was given by Atlassian of 80 lpa. average package was around 13 lpa. more than 85 percent of students got placed

Navigating college choice for upcoming student

Likes

I like in my college anti ragging system and mess is also good for vegetarian student also senior are helping to juniors
the environment of my college is good it is located in premium area of Surat so there is no problem related to transportation and travelling
there is a beautiful library where many books are placed student can read each book on the basis of library card

Dislikes

there placement scenario is not good because student are facing problem to reaching out companies
In my college the culture of coding is also not good so students are not much enthusiast for doing coding
there are some old building which are completely ruined but still they are standing so they can be dangerous for student

The placement scenario of my college is not much good .because many of student get unplaced. after 7th semester student are eligible for campus placement. the highest package is 48 lacs and average package is 10 lacs I want to get placement also.

Brief overview of SVNIT

Likes

Campus is really good, spread across 250 acres
Faculties are highly skilled and labs are also good
Clubs are really great, one can learn lot of things.

Dislikes

Hostels are not so good, they are getting old.
Infrastructure is not really good but it's okish..

Placement Experience:

Placements are decent or above average compare to the other colleges. Companies approach the institute and students can apply from 6th sem by they'll get the internship and they may also get PPOs. Hiring starts from the 7th sem and majority of the people get the placement. The highest package this year is around 18 LPA for the mech student and the avg is about 8-8.5 LPA Around 85% of students were placed last year in mechanical who sat for the placements.

A Quick Glance at NIT Surat

Likes

I liked the way our professors guide us for the internship, placement, etc.
I liked the opportunities this institute provides for the international internship.
I liked the environment of the campus as it has a collaborative atmosphere of the students coming from different backrounds and lifestyle.

Dislikes

One negative aspesct of the institute is that it doesn't have a well maintained MSc departments.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are pretty good. There is separate Training and Placement Cell which guide students for their placements. NIT Surat is known for the placements in Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Department. Placement rate is very high for these two branches due to various chemical industries Surat city. As per 2024 data the average package CSE department is 15.86 LPA and the highest is 52 LPA. Overall palcement rate for Btech 2024 was 65.47%. The placement rate is not much for Integrated MSc branch.

Bad experience

Likes

The central library is very good with centralised ac where we can study comfortably and the collection of educational books are too good
Mechanical engineering labs are equipped with all the necessary devices and equipments with access for students to develop their own projects with clubs
The clubs are very innovative and prize winners in some areas with professor’s assistance they are doing pretty good

Dislikes

The lack of proper lawns and mid to below average food in canteen
Mechanical engineering main building is in very bad condition as the ceilings are falling off in some areas and quite risky for students to study there.
Fortnightly there are power cuts which is quite annoying for students studying and difficult in summer times

Placement Experience:

7th sem students are eligible for placements there were no significant companies which came for mechanical engineering students and the average offer made till now is around 5lpa with total of 40/210 students placed till now. the highest package was 15lpa and lowest was 1lpa im planning on pursuing my career as software engineer aftee this degree

Likes

I like the location of my college my college are in the main surat City so transport and availability are quite good.
I like the mega technical event of college it the the gujrat biggest techno management fest
I like the cleanees of my college because my college is in Surat City and it is the cleanest city of India

Dislikes

I don't like the sport's facilities in my college there is only one grouund for both cricket and football
I don like the restriction of college they don't allow students to get out from main gate after 10:30 pm
There is a very small convocation hall in the college

After 6 semester students is eligible for campus placements. Many companies visit but some big company like Amazon, Cisco,meeshi, Samsung for core branches BPCL ,iocl,ongc etc visited in the college and same companies like abinveb,he healthcare.

Likes

the most thing i liked about this college is college's library
college's library is best place for me to study
overall a green campus full of trees and greenery

Dislikes

water drain system of this college is not so good
buildings of tihs college is too old which is not a good news
hostel facilities provided by the college is not so good

Placement Experience:

placements are good of this college recently a senior got the pacakage of 49 lacs from a company which is quite high for a nit students this college have aan averag placement rat eog 11 lacs per annum

Good College

Likes

Faculty is very good and knowledgeable. Many of the proffesors have done Phd/research from Top institutes.
Campus life is okayish . Full greenery and calm vibes
Campus is situated in middle of a big bustling city. So huge amount of exposure you get . Not like other NITs where the college is in outskirts and you have to travel a lot even for basic things like hospital and all

Dislikes

The Infrastucture is still improving. Some of the departments are good. Some are bad. Since it is a govt college things do take a lot of time

Placement Experience:

For Campus Placements , Students are eligible from 7th sem. But for Internships from 5th sem. Around 70% get placed even in recession. Before 2023, almost 80-90% got placed from this college. Many of our seniors also get PPOs from their summer internships.

Unheard things about SVNIT

Likes

The department of cimputer science and the faculty
The greenery in the campus , the campus is full of trees whch maintaain a god environment.
The sports facilty although they are not at par as compared to other NITs.

Dislikes

The foood in the mess is prettty very bad they dont even give non veg to first year.
As it is a government colege so the development work is quite slow.
Quite strict rules regarding rules violation , well this can be good and bad depending upon point of view.

Placement Experience:

The placemnets here goood , I heard that around 32 students also got PPO , the average ackage of CSE was arounf 15.6 LPA nad median was arounf 12 LPA ,. Comparison to other NITs it is not at par they have ususually 18-20 lpa avg package

SVNIT For research?

Likes

The campus is located in the main area of Surat which provides good connectivity to various places
The seniors and the teachers are very friendly and knowledgeable. We must know how to use them in a good way
The peer group is a positive thing here as many of them are very good at respective subjects and has a competitive nature

Dislikes

The campus is small even though it is lush green. The hostel is not good
The mess food has a repetitive menu. The quality is sometimes a concern

Placement Experience:

The placements are good here. The maximum package this year was around 50 lpa. Even msc students bagged 20lpa package in svnit. If we have enough skill and knowledge the college offers various opportunities.

My review of SVNIT is a mixed one. It is a good choice in almost every aspect other than sports.

For sports enthusiasts, SVNIT is not the right choice. The condition of sports facilities at our college is not good. The sports grounds are not in a good shape. The cricket/football ground becomes a grassland from July to December.

The indoor badminton courts, which are two in number, are immensely insufficient to cater to around 4000 students. Each one has to wait a long time for their turn, and is given around 10 minutes to play the sport. Such a huge number of students can not access the badminton courts for sufficient durations. MMNCT is the best sports event of the year. It is an inter-year cricket tournament that takes place at night. The gym is well designed and has all the modern equipment.

Many classes are boring. But a lot of the professors, especially in the Civil department, teach really well. The marking system is very transparent, and after 15-30 days post the exams, answer sheets are made available for students to have a look. The classrooms are also very school-like in appearance. The rules are lenient, and most teachers are satisfied with a 60% student attendance.

The location is quite good, and malls, theaters, etc. are easily accessible. The campus is located in a posh area of Surat. Places like Mumbai, Daman, etc. are easily accessible for getaways. The placements are top notch, the clubs are plenty and quite decent. The mess food is quite good as well.

Unless you are very serious about getting the best sports facilities, SVNIT is a good college. But for sports facilities, I would recommend you try for MNIT Jaipur.
