Placements commence for us in 3rd semester and there is a 100% placement mostly. Companies like Wells Fargo, McKinsey, Axtria etc visit and give about 50+ offers. The highest package is around 24 lac/annum and averages about 16/annum. I plan to join a company through campus placements only.

Students become eligible for placement (full-time) from the penultimate semester of their course. Companies such as Juspay, Tiger Analytics, Axtria, Morgan Stanley, Deloitte, Infosys, ICICI bank, Digit Insurance, Bajaj Finserv, Wells Fargo, Oxane Partners etc. visit MBA IIT Kanpur and offers roles mostly in Analytics, IT and Consulting and other roles in Finance, Operations and Marketing.
Last year 100% of the MBA students were placed, and a total of 61 offers were made for 55 students including PPOs.
The highest package offered was of 22 LPA and Average stood at 16.61 last year (2020-2022 batch)
Right now I have received a PPO from a very reputed organization as a Senior Business Analyst, and I am exploring roles in Analytics Consulting. I want to open restaurants in my native area with the use of advanced analytics and marketing skills learned at IIT Kanpur.

The students are eligible for placements from 3rd semester.
There were 35 companies for the final placement with prominent associations with axtria, wells Fargo, and Accenture strategy.
The prominent roles are product manager and senior associate.

4th years students are eligible for placements. And many companies come in my college. Some of which are very good. Placement statistics are very efficient in my college. Above 80 percent students are getting placement every years

Placement Experience:
From the 3rd year onwards students become eligible for the placements. Here before placements, some students do internships and get a pre-placement offer from the company so they are placed before the placement season.
Companies generally come from Microsoft, Uber, Google, Flipkart, Amazon, etc.
nearly 80 percent are placed. I will prefer placements.

Placement Experience:
Placement starts from the 7th semester starting. Almost 90 % of students got placed on campus. almost 400-500 companies came for recruitment. Some students go for UPSC after graduation. I am preparing for the Quant profile.

The highest package is 24 LPA and the lowest package is 10 LPA. A total of 80 percent of students are placed but in case 100 percentage students can be placed.

100% placements are guaranteed. Senior executive in data analytics, relationship manager in banks, supply chain, software consultant, and other positions were available. Our batch's average figure was 12 LPA. The official placement reports posted on the college website list the names of the companies visited.

What is your review of the earth sciences department at IIT Kanpur?

The Earth Sciences is a Department imparting education related to the study of Earth and its geological reliefs. The best part about this Department is that every course here overlaps with some or the other course of other departments making it a multifaceted one.
Earth Sciences curriculum overlaps with many courses in Material Science and Physics, Civil and Chemical, and even Electrical and CSE. This provides diversity in the overall learning experience of the course making it very interesting.
The only major issue is that due to common courses, the curriculum is vague and has no well-defined structure and content. We hope that this flaw is taken care of in the near future.
The program provides versatile job prospects even in the field of Satellite Remote Sensing, weather prediction, and geothermal power plants.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.
