The college is among the top 5 institutes of India so the placement without a doubt is according to the college standard and name. The college maintains a record of 100% placement and the highest salary offer was around 2 CPA and the average salary offer is around 25 LPA. Axtria, EXL, Goldman Sachs, OLA, Uber are the major recruiters for the college. Few of my batchmates received a pre-placement offer from which I am also the one that received a pre-placement offer.

Placement Experience:
So we got work opportunities from diverse fields according to the expertise, some of the fields were manufacturing system, supply chain management, data analytics, supply chain management, logistics, infrastructure management, etc. The highest salary package offered was Rs. 21.5 LPA and the average salary of Rs. 12 LPA were offered in our final placement program. The recruiters who participated in the final campus recruitment were Deloitte, IBM, master card, PWC, Cognizant, Credit Suisse, Walmart, Core compete, Tata Motors, etc.

Placement Experience:
During your study, 92% of the students were placed with the highest package as 1.5 crores per annum, the average package as 15 lakh per annum, and the lowest package as 8 lakh per annum. Companies like Rolls Royce, Jaguar, HUL, ITC, Uber, Microsoft, Google, Reliance, Qualcomm, etc visited the campus for recruitment. To get an internship the students are required to score 8 CGPA in the 2nd year of study. From that in the interview, skills like communication negotiation and other soft skills were asked about. Most of the students who did not get placed went on for further study is like a PhD or an MBA.

For entrance, candidates have to give national exams such as the common admission test (CAT) and by obtaining and securing a valid score, candidates have to apply for a form online on the website. Bachelors degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate.

Placement Experience:
Soon I will also be sitting for the placements of my batch and I have to admit, I am feeling very nervous and anxious. My professor told me to start preparing from the very start and I did the same. In the former year, 287 recruiters participated offering the highest domestic CTC of Rs. 1.2 CPA and highest international CTC of Rs. 2.06 CPA. Axtria, EXL, Goldman Sachs, OLA emerged as the top recruiters of the week.

In the former year, placements were exceptional. Highest international CTC went to Rs. 2.06 CPA and highest domestic CTC was Rs. 1.2 CPA. 287 recruiters participated in the placements including Infosys, ICICI Bank, Axtria, EXL, Goldman Sachs, OLA. Google and Microsoft also offered some attractive packages for domestic profiles at the institute. Companies from sectors such as Healthcare, E-commerce, Logistics, Financial Services, and various other domains offered job roles to the students.

Placement Experience:
My college is known for its placements. the placement cum internship process starts by end of the 6th semester. The companies visited during placement season include Reliance Industries Limited, Tata Steel, HUL, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. More than 90% of students get placed during the placement season. The average package is around 17 lac, some students get as high as 2 crores. After getting my degree I want to do the job for a few months and then start preparing for UPSC.

Placement Experience:
Official placement is at the end of 7th semester in December.
Moreover, pre-placement is also offered after internships.
Interships are offered in 3rd and 4th year.
However, 1st and 2nd year students are also eligible for internships but they don't have much knowledge and experience at this earlier stage.
Many well renowned companies Congress for placement, also there are many foreign job offers.
My plan is to opt for reasearch or core job or job in AI field

What is your review of the earth sciences department at IIT Kanpur?

The Earth Sciences is a Department imparting education related to the study of Earth and its geological reliefs. The best part about this Department is that every course here overlaps with some or the other course of other departments making it a multifaceted one.
Earth Sciences curriculum overlaps with many courses in Material Science and Physics, Civil and Chemical, and even Electrical and CSE. This provides diversity in the overall learning experience of the course making it very interesting.
The only major issue is that due to common courses, the curriculum is vague and has no well-defined structure and content. We hope that this flaw is taken care of in the near future.
The program provides versatile job prospects even in the field of Satellite Remote Sensing, weather prediction, and geothermal power plants.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.
