I get swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship which is very helpful for me.
Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
Campus is very green and lovely. you would surely love the experience.

Dislikes

The hostel facility is horrible in our college we don't have many single seater rooms there were very limited which intern causes disputes among students and the food facility was also not good it's really very hard
Actually hostel facilities is not good in indian institute of enginnering science and technology the maintainnace is poor and my college is in west bengal, shibpur and for me i dont like bengal food as i am from andhra pradesh.
The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.

It's a Charming Place

Remarks:

This college was Close to hometown. I was also getting a top rank branch. Also, it's a renowned college, and its famous all over Bengal and India I guess. NIRF rank was also great. Admission process was normal, like every college you enter through JoSAA. You obviously need to remember to create your anti ragging affidavit. There's a website, but I doubt any NIT website is approachable for students who are going to take admission. It's futile to go there. There's a Facebook group for that information for new admissions. As for good and bad aspects, they won't matter. None too bad aspects to keep in mind. Also, one must remember, even if it's a great subject like Computer Science or Electronics, it depends on the College and particular department whether it's gonna be good. Frankly speaking, CS and ECE departments in the college are not very good. While Information Technology department is amazing.

Placement Experience:

Placements lacked in the department. Still, if you are eligible to do great, you can achieve anything you want from college, not only academically but also on other sides.There is hardly some students who get placement after completing the course. Most of the students go for higher studies. So the placement percentage is about 20-30%. I am planning for further higher studies about getting the degree.

Remarks:

NIRF Ranking. When the course was offline till march 2020, we were able to learn the courses but, after it became online I was unable to focus much on my academics. Placements for IT/CS are really good.

Placement Experience:

3rd-year students up for internship opportunities and 4th year for placements. 2nd years got industrial training for mining Department. Total 150+ companies visit placement. The highest package naturally 36+ LPA and an average of 6 LPA. I am looking forward to some industrial exposure before going for higher studies, after Graduation.

Placement Experience:

The student becomes eligible for campus placement in the 7th semester. Many companies with campus-like Microsoft, IBM, Infosys, TCS, cognizant, PWC, CGI, CAPGEMINI, etc Some students get it around 3.5 to 4 LPA, and some get placed around 20 LPA. Most get around the 3-8 LPA range. The percentage of students getting placement varies from department to department.

Placement Experience:

Placement is not as good as IITs and top NITS but better than some of the NITS, state Govt colleges and most of the private colleges. Placement statistics of CST, IT is better than that of the other branches. Follow the Institute website and official Facebook Placement page for more details. The pandemic situation affects the placements badly. In spite of going to the IT sector, Maximum students of core departments always try to make their career in the core sector (even through off campus, GATE and PSU recruitment exams). This is a good scenario that is not found in most engineering colleges nowadays.

BREIF ABOUT MINING IN IIEST

Placement Experience:

From the 7th semester, we are eligible for placements , Vedanta, Tata Steel, Capgemini, TCS, Infosys. Previous year almost 85-90 percent of the student from mining got placements. The highest package in 2020 was 39 lakhs per annum. I would try to get placement and besides, I will also prepare myself for CAT and GATE exams.

IIEST SHIBPUR - HISTORY AND BEYOND

Placement Experience:

Placement scenarios in this college are pretty much decent. Attracting both core and non core companies gives a very fair placement percentage. The students can start applying for internships for the 3rd year itself. And the number of offers matches the number of internships. The number of companies visiting the campus is above 100. And the offers made are about 500. The highest package is given by Microsoft 39 lpa while the lowest is offered by Cognizant Solutions 4 LPA. The percentage of students getting place pre covid scenario crossed 60 but had reduced during the covid era. My plans after getting the degree are to take up a job and earn.

A Short Review on Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur, Howrah

Placement Experience:

From the 7th semester (4th year) all students can be eligible for campus placements. There are several govt. Companies along with some private companies provide their placement offers. Our DTPC department is always trying to approach all renowned companies for their placement offers to their students. There are so many companies like Capgemini India Pvt Ltd, JMS consultant, Gainwell cat, Vedanta Pvt Ltd and also Coal India (all branches like ECL, NCL, BCCL and so on) that are to be approached for placement offers. The highest packages are 14LPA to 16 LPA and average packages are 8 to 10 LPA available for students depending on the placement companies. In our department in every year, the core departmental placement offers percentage is 70 to 80 percentage and others are no core departmental placement. But in every year most of all students are placed in a company. One student can also refuse to be placed and can continue to the dual degree of engineering for 5 years course or they can go with MTech.

One of my friends is a final-year student at IIEST Shibpur. According to him, the placement last year has been great. Microsoft IDC (PPO), Mentor Graphics, CESC Ltd (PPO), Tata Steel (PPO), Bentley Systems completed their recruitment process on campus and hired more candidates than they did last year. Companies like Atlassian, Samsung R&D, and PwC are also expected to recruit on campus. A brief discussion about placements and other aspects of the institute are as follows.

Placements:

Pre-final year students got internship offers from various firms like Microsoft R&D, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, and Texas Instruments this year. Other firms which will be having on-campus recruitment will most likely be hiring interns also. Hence, needless to mention that the placement scenario has continued its trend of improvement this year as well.
Students have been hired in companies like Microsoft IDC, Cognizant, Samsung R&D, Infosys, TCS Research and Innovation, Z. S. Associates, etc. from campus placements. Off-campus placements also include Google (Bangalore).
The median salary that has been offered is around 7 LPA and every one of the scholars participating in placements got placed. The placement cell improved and has become more proactive and efficient in training and placement of scholars.

Infrastructure:

All departments, libraries and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with decent speeds. The Science and Technology Department features a 1Gigabit backbone network.
The rooms and labs are well maintained and have all the specified equipment. The central library is not extremely big but features a good assortment of useful titles. There are smaller departmental libraries also.
The hostels are decent and clean but might be improved. They need indoor game facilities also. A replacement hostel for women has just been built and features a far better review.
There are multiple canteens on Campus serving good quality food at reasonable rates and a CCD stall with significantly cheaper rates than usual.
Other amenities include Gymnasium, Sports fields, Court and Infirmary.

Faculty:

The college consists of highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They clear the doubts if consulted. Most teachers teach using both chalkboard and multimedia aids.
There are multiple teachers and other lab assistants to guide the students during the lab classes.
The course curriculum is aligned with most other national institutions and contains the essential topics necessary for the course.

The campus is lush green and located on the bank of the river Ganges. Right beside the institute is Botanical Gardens. Many events take place at the institute all year around. There are annual Techno-Management fest Instruo, Annual Cultural fests Rebecca and Anuranan, and departmental fests. Besides that, there are also sports events. Meritorious students can avail scholarships sponsored by the Alumni Association.
