BSc Agriculture is a popular degree program in the field of agriculture. The course offers training in modern agriculture techniques. Agricultural science also has disciplines such as agronomy, horticulture, plant pathology, entomology, soil science, food technology, agricultural economics, home science, fisheries, forestry, and veterinary science. Students can study these subjects as specialization during their master’s degree course. 

Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Mizoram is the conducting body for admission into medical courses which includes a BSc Agriculture course. SMATEE or State Medical and Technical Entrance Examination is conducted for admission into the BSc Agriculture course in the Mizoram state.

The selection process is based on the marks scored in the entrance examination. Candidates need to score the desired cutoff marks to get admission into the BSc Agriculture course in Mizoram.

Mizoram BSc Agriculture Admission 2024: Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate should at least be 17 years as of December 31, 2024.
  • They should pass 10+2 exam from a recognized board with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English as compulsory subjects.

Mizoram BSc Agriculture Admission 2024: Exam Pattern

  • The duration of SMATEE entrance exam is 3 hours.
  • There are a total of 100 questions asked divided into three sections.
  • Under 3 sections, 25 questions are asked from Physics, 25 questions from Chemistry, and a total of 50 questions are asked Biology.

Mizoram BSc Agriculture Admission 2024: Syllabus

The syllabus for the entrance examination is based on class 11th and class 12th of the Mizoram Board. The brief syllabus is described below:

  • Physics: Units and Dimensions, Force, Laws of Motion, Kinetics, Electrostatics, Electricity and Current, Magnetism, Communication, Optics, etc.
  • Chemistry: Chemistry in Everyday Life, Polymers, Biomolecules, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Surface Chemistry, Isolation of Elements, Atoms and Nuclei, Chemical Kinetics, etc.
  • Biology: Plant Physiology, Animal Physiology, Plant and Animal Anatomy, Reproduction in Plants and Animals, Cell theory and functionality, Diversity in Organisms, Ecosystem, Biodiversity, etc.

Mizoram BSc Agriculture Admission Process 2024

The selection is made by getting a valid score in the SMATEE entrance exam

  • Candidates need to purchase the application form from the office of the Joint Directorate, Technical Education, Chalthang.
  • Payment of application fee.
  • Fill the application form and submit at the office only.

Soon after conducting the SMATEE entrance examination, an answer key is released by the statutory body. The list of eligible candidates for the counseling process is published on the official website. Candidates can check their name and roll number from the list released by the concerned body.

The counseling guidelines are released by the concerned body on its official website. Along with it, the counseling process is conducted in Multiple rounds. The schedule for each counseling process is available on the website. Soon after each counseling, a list of candidates along with the allotted college is available to check at the official website.

Ans. The registrations for the LPU BSc Hons Agriculture course began on December 1, 2023. The last date to apply for the course is May 31, 2024. The session will start from the 2nd week of August. However, these are tentative dates so you should keep checking the official website to know any changes in dates. Also, I would recommend you not wait for the last date and apply as early as possible. You can also take the LPUNEST exam to avail of up to 50% scholarship on the total program fee. The total course fee of this course is INR 14 lakhs including the hostel fees.  The scope of this course is great as you get to have hands-on learning of the subject.
