IIT Dhanbad Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

Talking about internships and placements. From the 3rd year onwards (5th sem) generally, internship opportunities are available for the students. And from final year (7th sem) placement process begins. Every year the number of companies and the number of students placed are getting higher. Especially for the IT sector, it is increasing at a very fast rate.

Students become eligible for placements after the 7th semester, the placement season continues till May, end of 8th semester. 100+ companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Sprinklr, Maruti Suzuki, etc. visit the campus for placements. The highest package last year was 43.5 LPA, and the average package was around 12-14 LPA.

The placements are getting good every year and CSE has a lot to contribute to the overall figure. There are ample opportunities for students to find an internship and placement. All big MNCs visit here for placement for example Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Codenation, Sprinklr etc. The placement percentage is around 90% and may vary year to year. The students from 7 th semester are eligible for the placements and the students from 5 th semester are able to sit for internship.

The placements here are quite good considering this is a core branch and this legacy is continued for years. Companies like ONGC, Cairn India, Reliance Limited, Exxon Mobil, Essar Oil and gas, Mecon, Gail etc. and the average package is around 14 lacs per annum. 80-85% placement is fixed and that varies from year to varies. The highest package offered is 21 lacs and the lowest is around 11 lacs. I am looking forward to working in an oil and gas company and getting a kick start to my carrier.

From 7th sem onwards , students are eligible for placement. Around 150 companies visited our campus last year . Highest domestic package being from Microsoft 45 LPA. Around 90% of the students get placed and others move to research activities.

Campus internship for students starts in their 3rd year. A number of companies core and non-core visit to hire students. Top companies include: Google, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Sprinklr, Amazon, Standard Chartered, Axxela, ONGC, ExxonMobil, Cairn, NVIDIA, Tata steel, Oracle and many more. The stipend of interns varies from 10k to 2 lakhs per month. Based on internship performance, PPOs are also given to students. Placement starts from December in final year and the percentage of students getting placed varies from branch to branch. Previous year highest CTC offered was 90L from Bloomberg. In petroleum engineering, the average package is around 10-15 lakhs. After getting the degree, I aim to get a decent placement and work in the company to have a crisp understanding of the industry.

Last semester students become eligible for campus placement Most MNP companies come to my college but in my mining fields engineering, CIL is the most important company are comes to my university. Almost all the students get placements through the university. My plan after getting degrees to mtech in IITs institutions

Companies began to visit the campus from starting of the 5th sem for internship and from the 7th sem for final placement. Tech giants like Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, DE Shaw, etc visit the campus and recruit a good amount of students from circuital branches. For earth science branches there has been a decline in the core companies especially PSUs. Consulting companies like Axxela, Futures First, Cubastion, etc also visit the campus for hiring. Some well-known PSUs like Cairn, ONGC, ExxonMobil, Mecon come for hiring for petro and AGP, AGL students The highest package last year was 93 lakh by Bloomberg London and the profile which was offered is Software Developer. Avg package is 9-10lakhs. Percentages of students placed vary from year to year but are roughly around 70-80%.
