- Academic area is built well planned and is a spectacle .
- Campus has a lot of tree and plants which is good .
- Higher study and placement opportunities are good.
Dislikes
- Hostels are pretty bad and super crunched .
- High academic pressure and harsh grading policy
- Too much of reservation which degrades the peer group expected before coming here.
Placement Experience:
On campus internship oppurtinities are given from the 3rd year and the placement season is usually in the 4th year . almost all students seeking placement get placed ( except 2023 since they got affected by recession).multiple 1cr + packages offered both in India as well outside India .

- I liked the sports availablity and you are allowed to play all games
- I liked the freedom we have in IIT Kanpur
- I liked the people and peer group we have in IIT Kanpur
Dislikes
- I don't liked the the mess food and it's quality
- Gender ratio is improving but still it is very less
Placement Experience:
Students become eligible for campus placement from 7th semester but they can get internship in 2nd year also, average package is 26 lakh , Almost 90 percent students gets placement. I want to get a nice job in my interest

- Things I enjoyed was making friends in my wing, celebrating our birthdays together, having a strong bond with each other.
Dislikes
- Things I dislike are the Physical Education classes which mandatory for the freshers for first year.
Placement Experience:
The Placements here are up to the mark with average salary around 30-35 lakhs and increasing and branchwise it is even better. This year out of 1128/928 students got placed which is less than last year but still according to me, it happening in view of the current recession period going on in America.

- I liked the family culture of IIT Kanpur. It means that seniors are like our parents which help us at any moment.
- I also like the mess food . Because of lot of varieties.
- I like the opportunity it provides to students for doing anything.
Dislikes
- There are some profs which are very strict.
- There are also some seniors which used drugs and alcohol.
- They did not provide single room so it's also bad.
Placement Experience:
In 4th year student sit in there placements and top companies like Google, Amazon , Microsoft, etc visit in our campus placements. Highest package is around 2 crores and average is 25 lakhs . Almost every student got placed . My plan is to secure decent job after graduation.

- Clean and green campus with all facilities like banks, hospital ets available in the campus
Dislikes
- Some courses taught in first year and useless.
- Hostel Life is mediocre and rooms small.
- Location is not good. Kanpur City is not a very good place.
Placement Experience:
Internship opportunities are available from the first year itself. I plan to not to pursue higher education after btech. Package is my department is highest in college. And almost all students get placed.

- The faculty is very experienced. Moreover they motivate student's very much
- The infrastructure of campus is also very nice.
Dislikes
- Hostel menu only consists of vegetables and does not provide fruits
- The grounds provided to students for playing are less
- Hot water is not available to us in winter
Placement Experience:
Generally students of 4th year sit in college placements. The package provided to students is very appreciable. The average package this year is 26 lakh. Almost all students get placed. My plans after getting the degree are doing an MBA from abraod

- Placements are quite good. Various opportunities for internships are also provided

- As a city, Kanpur is not a tech hub or a big industrial centre, due to which industry connects at IITK are not that good
Course Curriculum Overview:
The course of Computer Science and Engineering is considered to be one of the most sought after course in IITs. The term exams are quite difficult, with some examinations being of the level higher than JEE advanced examination.

- In iitk, the community is so diverse and rich

- Here, in iitk, hostel life is not that good.
- I really dislike absolute grading courses here in iitk.
- Most of the students here in iitk are just studying to get good packages.
Course Curriculum Overview:
We get branch based on the rank we get in JEE Advanced. So I got civil engineering based on my rank. Here, in iit kanpur, we have highly qualified faculties, most of which did their phds from foreign universities.

Generally in 6th or 7th semester we get placement.best companies of India visit here.highest pakage is 14lpa and average pakage is 11 lpa.around 75%get placed.my plans are basically to get a good job .

What is your review of the earth sciences department at IIT Kanpur?

The Earth Sciences is a Department imparting education related to the study of Earth and its geological reliefs. The best part about this Department is that every course here overlaps with some or the other course of other departments making it a multifaceted one.
Earth Sciences curriculum overlaps with many courses in Material Science and Physics, Civil and Chemical, and even Electrical and CSE. This provides diversity in the overall learning experience of the course making it very interesting.
The only major issue is that due to common courses, the curriculum is vague and has no well-defined structure and content. We hope that this flaw is taken care of in the near future.
The program provides versatile job prospects even in the field of Satellite Remote Sensing, weather prediction, and geothermal power plants.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.
