- I like hostel facilities of iitk because there are very good rooms very good mess etc.
- social life is very good in iit kanpur there are many fests and events are held
- placements are very good in iitk students get placed in their dream companies with good pakages
Dislikes
- grading system is very hard . many student working hard but still get low grades
- less intrection between faculty and students
- courses are not relevant to industrial requirement and courses are very hard student faces difficulty to pass in exam
Placement Experience:
placement is very good in iit kanpur most of the students get placed with good packages. The highest pakage of the year 2022 is 4cr and the average pakage is around 20lakh companies like google, microsoft come in on-campus placement

- The curriculum is tough as compared to some other colleges
- Disparities in grading policy of different instructors.
- The schedule during semester is very hectic.
Course Curriculum Overview:
The curriculum of IIT Kanpur is a bit tough. A semester usually ends in 4 months and has 5-6 subjects. Most of the subjects in 1st year are Institute Compulsory courses which are taught to students of every batch. Department course starts from 2nd year.

- You will actually get to know the level of IQ an individual have and to what extent they can rock a specific field.
- Less restriction. There is literally no Restrictions. You can go Out of the campus any time with anyone. Girls are allowed in boys hostel and vice versa which is generally not allowed elsewhere.
- The culture here is really historic which also helps us in connecting various alumni.
Dislikes
- Competition. Because of some great mind, all under one hall, its really difficult to showcase yourself jn front of others.
- Mess. At the beginning it used to be good but then they never change mess menu and also decrease the quality
- Room. There are many students who have been allocated triple sharing room so there are a bit more distractions when u go to study.

Placement Experience:
Students become eligible for placement at the start of 4th yr after 6th semester though they would have to join the company at the end of 4th year.
There are around 230 companies visited this yr and almost 90% of the total students got placed.
So the highest package was 4.3 crore which is the highest ever in all IITs. The average package was around 20 lakhs.
My plan is to join a consulting company and look for a future there.
Though I am exploring more and I can change it if I find some other field more interesting.

- open air theatre , it is really huge and nice .
- lot of freedom in campus ,literally no rules
- big campus size of 1050 acres , sufficient for all activities
Dislikes
- swimming pool is still under maintainence
- less opportunites to participate in clubs in 1st semester
- less gym equipments , not sufficient and less slots
Placement Experience:
According to media, the best engineering placements this year were from IIT Kanpur. 74 international offers were made and 33 people got packages above 1 crore and the highest domestic package was 1.9 crores.

- Fests are great here you can enjoy a lot.
- Facilities are best here if you use them right you will be pro.
- Very good facilities for research. You can use much expensive machines here

- Curriculum here is hard enough it built to much pressure in some branch like mech and civil
Placement Experience:
Placements are very good at IITK. Too many companies visit here and nearly every one got placed. You can sit in placements after the 7th semester or you can do your master's and PhD here too if you want to study further.

- Campus life is good as well as the culture in the campus .
Dislikes
- Grading policies can be updated and courses that are not relevant can be discarded.
Placement Experience:
Placement season comes every year likely for last year's students. The company from various fields including cooperate and research-based companies are present.
The average package is like 10 to 15 lakhs CTC and the highest fits cores.
Almost everybody gets placed though depending on the skill of the person also.

- Overall experience is good. I like Sports facilities. campus is beautiful.

Placement Experience:
There is an official placement office to run a placement drive every year. In BTECH 7th-semester students can apply for placement. Flipkart, Amazon, Reliance, Goldman Sachs, Quant box, etc are the main recruiting companies. The highest package was 4.3 cr and the average was 12 lac.
80% of students got placed. I want to work for core companies after getting the degree

- The rooms are kind of old and not well maintained
- The academics is really tough and hectic schedule
- It is far from the main city so difficult to travel
Placement Experience:
The placement record of our college is great, students are eligible to apply for placement in their 7th semester and most of them get placed also with a great package. All the big companies come to offer placement in our college.

What is your review of the earth sciences department at IIT Kanpur?

The Earth Sciences is a Department imparting education related to the study of Earth and its geological reliefs. The best part about this Department is that every course here overlaps with some or the other course of other departments making it a multifaceted one.
Earth Sciences curriculum overlaps with many courses in Material Science and Physics, Civil and Chemical, and even Electrical and CSE. This provides diversity in the overall learning experience of the course making it very interesting.
The only major issue is that due to common courses, the curriculum is vague and has no well-defined structure and content. We hope that this flaw is taken care of in the near future.
The program provides versatile job prospects even in the field of Satellite Remote Sensing, weather prediction, and geothermal power plants.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.
