The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Academic area is large and there is a huge library
Sports facilities are very good and good coaches are there
Hostels are good in comparison with other colleges

Dislikes

Hostel in time is around 7.30 pm which is less than other collges
Tuition fee keeps on increasing every year.
Nonveg food is not available in the mess.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements in 4th year. And become eligible for internships after 2nd year of college. The companies that visit are Google Microsoft tcs. Goldman Sachs etc. Almost 90 percent of students get placed. The highest package for batch of 2022 was 54 lakhs and the average salary was around 14 lakhs.

Thapar at its best

Likes

The faculty and classrooms are very nice.
The efforts put in to make the student feel at ease in campus.
Well made campus for student to relax and have a walk after a busy day with different types of food.

Dislikes

I havent come to a point where i have not liked anything. Everything has impresses me till now.
There is nothing to be disliked in this campus.
Nithing to be disliked in this campus till now.

Placement Experience:

I can't say anything regarding this on my own as im still in the first year. But according to what I heard the placement quality is very high and the companies that come in are known worldwide. Every student gets the job in their final years.

An overall review for MCA course at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology- [Thapar University]

Likes

Infrastructure, central library, COS market.
Niravana meditation park, numerous cafeterias.
cleanliness and greenery, proper management of parking and vehicles.

Dislikes

some exceptional teaching memeber with poor teaching methods.
too much crowd, too much strictness of guards to not let students roam around outside their hostels.
high and tough assessment level for exams

A lot of companies like Amazon, Microsoft, JP Morgan Chase Co., Adobe, Airbnb, Axis Bank, Barclays, Celebel, Cisco, etc. visit the institute and provide job opportunities for various roles and positions. The average package goes around 9-11 Lakhs per annum and the highest for my course students recorded is around 19 Lakhs per annum. The whole placement scenario for the MCA department revolves around the factor of competition with BTech/BE students and student skillsets and potential. Around 60-70% of students get placed on-campus and the remaining either go for off-campus or further higher studies.

Thapar a deemed university

Course Curriculum Overview:

The teachers here are very helpful and amazing. They provide the knowledge required for our field. I chose CSE for money and I love coding. The faculties here are very educated. Mid-semester were too early like 2 months from the start of our classes.

The campus placements are good and many companies come to the campus the Thapar TPO works very hard to make sure each student will get placement and because of that more than 1700 students have there placement till now and students are allowed to sit in placement for 1 and half year. From 3rd year students are eligible to sit in placements

Placement Experience:

The college placements are great and on-campus placements are also great. Companies start visiting after the end of the second year for placements. Around 300 plus companies do come. Average packages are increasing with each year.

College Society are best place to improve your skills.
Facilities are good which helps us to productive
Friends : Good friends grp make your college life worth it and I have I have one.

Dislikes

Academics : It is a lot of burden to maintain a good cg for 4 years. Hope this cg system improves
Fees: The fee is twice as much as a government college would charge. So it's better to be good in college and exploit all opportunities.
Placements : The placements are good but it highly competitive and if lag behind in something which other person know you end up getting nothing.

Placement Experience:

Placement offers are good for good students and internships are provided on campus in the third year and students can go for startup as well. We need to maintain a good cg of 8 or above and do internships to get good placements. Highest package: 42 LPA, Avg package: 12 for tech and 10 for core branches.

Environment of the campus is very nice , no pollution is created
The campus is full of greenery.Many street canteens are available at a very short walking distance from the important buildings like library, lecture halls
The faculty are quite good and the tutors and other staff is very supportive

Dislikes

The over-all fees is quite expensive so no anyone can afford it

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for internships at the end of 2nd year which is 4th semester or at the beginning of 3rd year. Regarding placements, seminar starts to held at the beginning of 4th year i.e. 7th semester and the Companies comes in a very short duration after this semester The highest package was 55 lakh per annum and the average is from 12-15 lakh per annum

The campus life where we can explore new thing's.
The college lies in 1.5 to tier 2 so the curriculum is very good.
The average package and placements are decent enough.

Dislikes

The class consists of almost 150 students.
Coe branch has 900 student intake it is not good.
The competition is very high for societies placements.

From 6th sem students become eligible for campus placement around 150 to 200 companies regularly visit the college and around 90 percent is the placement and average package is good if you get a decent CG you will surely get a good package.

Large number of societies, very inclusive
Many events, you enjoy life alot here, alot of good food joints for chicken lovers or junk lovers and also veg options

Dislikes

Hostel in time is 8:30, you can't stay out after that.

Placement Experience:

Placements are decent, almost every other student gets placed, it's like easy to get placed but hard to get placed in a good package. the percentage of students getting placed is more or less about 90%. The highest package is from ENC about 51.5 lakhs per annum. while the avg placement is 10 lakhs of cse branches. My plan after getting a degree is to get placed in a good company and then after a job for 2 yrs, I wanna go for Mba in Germany. After semester 6, the students are eligible for placements.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
