Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

What I have experienced right here!

Likes

Good environment.The greenery is quite good .
Teaching faculty is well experienced and enriched with knowledge
The college is well equipped to do research and development activities

The placements are good .The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) in the academic year successfully secured placements for 579 B. Tech students, offering a median salary package of INR 8.10 LPA. The placement statistics for the same period indicated an average Cost to Company (CTC) of INR 11.42 LPA.28 Nov 2023

Our lovely College

Likes

I like in my college is Nescafe,wonder cafe and There have SAC (student activiti centre) building
I like hostel food it's will be good and tasty and they provide 2 days special dinner in a week
In our college there have lots of trees so our college is look greenary

Dislikes

In our college there have different zone groups
Our accademic building is 1 km distance from our 1st year hostel
In main Academic building lab facilities are not advanced

Placement Experience:

From starting of 8th semester students are eligible for campus placement TCS Ninja,TCS Digital, ICICI Bank, Accenture,IBM, and many other 187 companies are visited In our course highest package is 24 lpa and average package is 9 lpa Last year 67% students placed in our course I want to go for higher studies

Likes

Library is well equipped and all the things are digitalized
Labs are well equipped with latest accessories
Auditorium is very lastely built and can accomodate more than 1000 students at a time

Dislikes

We find dogs anywhere in the college like on roads hostels etc..
For first year students we have restriction.
For bathrooms drainage system is not that much good

Placement Experience:

Placement are too excellent I say.The main reason i came for this college is that my branch(electrical) has good placements compared to top nits.My branch avg is 1400000 and college avg is 1350000 almost.computer science placement are really supr.Its avg is nearly 2500000.

Campus was very awesome and must visit and peaceful
The teachers are very supportive and gives marks easily if your image is good infront of them.

Dislikes

We are kept confined in our hostel for the whole forest semester so as to protect us from our seniors

Placement Experience:

Of course one will be eligible for campus placements in the final year, big companies like Microsoft arrives here at our college and take multiple students like last year Microsoft made around 25 offers, the highest package ever is 70 lakhs per annum. I our branch that is electrical engineering the percentage placement is around 90 percent

NIT DURGAPUR in brief

Likes

Location of the college.. It takes only 30min to travel from hostel to station
Ragging free campus and you don't have to be tensed about ragging,the anti ragging committee is so much strict here
Best hostel among all the NITs I can bet..The best quality food you will get atleast in 1st year

Dislikes

The rules are so much strict that you cannot even discover the campus by your own.
Don't know why but I feel like many faculties have so much arrogance
Pollution is there as Durgapur is an Industrial city

Companies like google, Microsoft, Qualcomm,goldman,Oracle,Airbus and many other brand companies visits our campus.Our placements stats are getting better every year also. 85% students were placed last year and thr avg package was 13.64 LPA with highest package of 70LPA from mechanical department

NIT Durgapur Fresher's Review

Likes

My hostel room, the bed and other things of mine
Lush greenery of the campus and the peace due to uncrowdedness which prevailed inside the campus
Research building and other laboratory and the library

Dislikes

Mess food is not upto the mark. Mess good should be improved.
There is too much restrictions on 1st year students to prevent them from ragging, which is good in a way but it's sometimes irritating.
Writing lab reports unnecessarily instead of allowing time for actual knowledge gain and the 75% attendance criteria

Placement Experience:

Placement at NIT Durgapur is very good. Last year i.e., in 2022-23 batch, the highest package was 70L. CSE department students has an average placement of 21.5 lakhs. And the overall average is 13.65 lpa which is quiet high.

I like the campus which is about 187 aches it’s greenery very chill nature
All the clubs which provide us so many thing to explore
Seniors here are very helpful as they help and guide us

Dislikes

For the first year students there are many restrictions
First year student can’t go out of the hostels due to restrictions
Some time there is so much academic pressure class assignments exams viva practical

Placement Experience:

In my course 90% students get placed in companies like Tatasteel , reliance, Vedanta , visa steel , JSW steel ltd etc avg package is around 11 lakhs highest pakage goes up to 21 lakhs. My plans is after getting degree I will go for MBA

Likes

Good placement opportunities as many top companies recruit
College campus is really clean and green.
Healthy competition between students which drives everyone.

Dislikes

Some faculty members can be better and also more experienced
College should promote entrepreneurship more .
Sports should be prioritised in curriculum for everyone .

Placement Experience:

Our college provides good placement and intership opportunities. Almost 80% top MNCs . PSUs come directly on campus to hire students . About 88% students are placed every year with a package of 12-13 lakh average . The highest package till now is 70 lakh. Students become eligible from 5 th semester to apply for interships and then final year placements .

ALL I COULD GATHER IN MY FIRST SEMESTER

The campus is large and spacious, with a huge amount of trees and nature everywhere, which are kept well maintained.
The cafes are good for gathering with friends and the canteens sure provide good food.
The library is agreat place to study or sort of focus on tasks too.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester with companies visiting with a count of nearly 70-80 and about 400 offers made this year with the highest package of 70LPA coming from the Mechanical department.

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
