I get swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship which is very helpful for me.
Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
Campus is very green and lovely. you would surely love the experience.

Dislikes

The hostel facility is horrible in our college we don't have many single seater rooms there were very limited which intern causes disputes among students and the food facility was also not good it's really very hard
Actually hostel facilities is not good in indian institute of enginnering science and technology the maintainnace is poor and my college is in west bengal, shibpur and for me i dont like bengal food as i am from andhra pradesh.
The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.

our institute has a very lush green campuses and kolkata monsoon season add heaven like beauty to campus
our institute Clubs and societies works actively

most of our institute infrastructure are old fashioned made

from 7th semester students are allow to sit in campus placements . some big giants from every sector visit are campus are Google, microsoft,well fargo, deutsche bank, oracle, texas instruments ,swiggy ,accenture ,L&T ,Tata steel , vedanta , Pwc ,amazon ,etc. around 700+ offers made in 2022 placement season. Around 87% students get placed in campus placement.

Placement Experience:

Placement is given mainly after the fourth year or in the fourth year, in 2nd and 3rd year you get an internship. Top recruiters are Amazon, Microsoft, Tata Steel, PWC, etc. Packages are nice in 2022 and 2023, as per the data highest Package was 45 lakh in 2022. The percentage of students getting placements is also more than 80%. After graduation, you can apply for GATE, and if you have other plans you can follow that.

The fees structure of the college is quite favorable.
The scholarship amount provided by the alumni good.
The college library is much more helpful.

The infrastructure of the college is very old.
Low availability of hostels for the students .
Non availability of air condition in the classrooms

Placement Experience:

The student can seat on the placement at the end of the third year where many renowned companies like Microsoft, google, Atlassian, tata, amazon,psus, etc placed the students. The highest package of our college is about 54 lakhs which are from the computer science field. The cgpa required for the students for seating in the placement cell is about 7.5-8.

All about IIEST Shibpur in a hosteller’s PoV

Likes

I like my campus it’s facilities the labs and all
I also like my college clubs and group and events they conducts
My faculty are also awesome and their lot of research going in the college

Dislikes

I don’t like location of the college it could be much better
I didn’t like the gender diversity ratio
I didn’t like the lousy weather and conditions

Placement Experience:

Students get eligible in 7th semester for placement and this year total 152 companies visited and 176 offeres were made. In my department percentage of students placed is around 53% and I wanna be civil servant after my degree

Carrying the legacy being the second oldest college of India

The fact that it is the second oldest college of India. It's huge alumni base. It is located near Howrah Bridge which is a very good location
The Placement opportunities provided here is huge
There is a great atmosphere here if you are interested in research. Faculties are very helpful

The hostels and buildings are very old and they need renovation.

Students become eligible for placement from the fourth year. A lot of companies like Microsoft, Samsung, Amazon, Adani, HSBC bank, Deutsche Bank, Texas Instruments, Tata Steel, Vedanta, and Media.net come to our college for placements. You can get the complete list on the college website. For the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, the highest package was 11.89 lpa and the average was 8.48 lpa with 84.3% of the students getting placed. There were also 4 GATE rank holders under 200 from our department this year.

Students become eligible for internships in 3rd year. Many companies visited for on-campus placements like Ti, Microsoft, Qualcomm, etc. The highest package is the 1.2 crore off-campus and the average placement is around 8-9 lac per annum. Almost 85-90 % of students get placed.

My honest review for IIEST Shibpur.

Likes

This college provides lots of opportunity for research in your interested domain.
The lush green campus provides you the positivity for your day to day life. You extra curricular activities are also enhanced here by variety of clubs.
This college is very historic and old. And has many unique stories related to different spots in the campus.

Dislikes

The campus size is not that much big enough to explore.
Proper fundings are not provided to various clubs present here.
Infrastructure here are also not much great.

Placement Experience:

The department properly assists the students in arranging training in industrial and educational establishments. This plays an important role in the placement of the students. Generally, placements are offered from the 8th semester. All big companies visit here such as Microsoft, TATA Steel Ltd, Texas Instruments, Google, Adobe, etc. Approximately 600 offers are made by all companies reaching there. The highest package offered is 45 lacs per annum and the average package of about 14 lacs per annum. 90% of students are placed in this institution. My future plan is to do Mtech after getting my degree.

I choose this course because the information technology field is highly growing. The ratio of faculty: student ratio is near about 1:20. Our faculty members are too good they are highly qualified. There are two exams in one semester, one is mid-semester and the other is end-semester.

Placement Experience:

Placements at our college are at par compared to other colleges , ROI is very decent too . For branches like CST/IT avg placement is 19lpa , for ETC it is 16.5lpa , for EE approximately 10lpa for mechanical and materials engineering it is 8.8lpa for civil and mining it is 8.7lpa and for aerospace engineering and applied mechanics it is approximately 8lpa(this data is for the batch of 2019-23) . Companies like Google , Microsoft, Amazon, DE shaw , Deutsche Bank, tata steel , tata metallics , L&T , JSW, JSL , HSBC , PWC, Texas Instruments, SAIL etc come for campus placements . Some of the students get PPO too . Most of the students get placed our median salary is approximately 8lpa .Mostly students go for internship programs from third year and they are eligible for campus placements from third year itself

awesome green campus. in evening you will feel vibe of this campus when the gentle breeze from bay of bengal came via hugli river touches your heart. weather is awesome here in morning and evening
advanced lab and research oriented professor. this college also get rank of nirf 40 in research institution .so reserch work is quite good here.
amazing festival of college. in even semester you rarely got bored because there is vibe of fests . each department and clubs organised their own fest and collectively organised REBECA.

summer time heat. in june time college is like a oven. much of this reason that college is just on bank of river and main kolkata city is just 1km away.
lack of infrastructure management. our college since established 1856 has some old building and they are heritage. so their maintance is not easy.

Placement Experience:

our college has good placement records and in y department of information technology ,average ctc is 19 lacs per annum. this year our department has highest placement records in whole college. highest incampus offer is given by microsoft of 45 lpa and highest offcampus offer is 1.5 crores.usually all tech and product based company visits our campus.google and microsoft offers incampus as well as off campus. microsoft is also keen to give internship here escpecially for girls. around 90 % of students were placed according to the placement cell and those who could not get placed are want to pursue higher studies or they get placed via offcampus. my plan is that to join a tech based company for growth of mankind.

One of my friends is a final-year student at IIEST Shibpur. According to him, the placement last year has been great. Microsoft IDC (PPO), Mentor Graphics, CESC Ltd (PPO), Tata Steel (PPO), Bentley Systems completed their recruitment process on campus and hired more candidates than they did last year. Companies like Atlassian, Samsung R&D, and PwC are also expected to recruit on campus. A brief discussion about placements and other aspects of the institute are as follows.

Placements:

Pre-final year students got internship offers from various firms like Microsoft R&D, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, and Texas Instruments this year. Other firms which will be having on-campus recruitment will most likely be hiring interns also. Hence, needless to mention that the placement scenario has continued its trend of improvement this year as well.
Students have been hired in companies like Microsoft IDC, Cognizant, Samsung R&D, Infosys, TCS Research and Innovation, Z. S. Associates, etc. from campus placements. Off-campus placements also include Google (Bangalore).
The median salary that has been offered is around 7 LPA and every one of the scholars participating in placements got placed. The placement cell improved and has become more proactive and efficient in training and placement of scholars.

Infrastructure:

All departments, libraries and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with decent speeds. The Science and Technology Department features a 1Gigabit backbone network.
The rooms and labs are well maintained and have all the specified equipment. The central library is not extremely big but features a good assortment of useful titles. There are smaller departmental libraries also.
The hostels are decent and clean but might be improved. They need indoor game facilities also. A replacement hostel for women has just been built and features a far better review.
There are multiple canteens on Campus serving good quality food at reasonable rates and a CCD stall with significantly cheaper rates than usual.
Other amenities include Gymnasium, Sports fields, Court and Infirmary.

Faculty:

The college consists of highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They clear the doubts if consulted. Most teachers teach using both chalkboard and multimedia aids.
There are multiple teachers and other lab assistants to guide the students during the lab classes.
The course curriculum is aligned with most other national institutions and contains the essential topics necessary for the course.

The campus is lush green and located on the bank of the river Ganges. Right beside the institute is Botanical Gardens. Many events take place at the institute all year around. There are annual Techno-Management fest Instruo, Annual Cultural fests Rebecca and Anuranan, and departmental fests. Besides that, there are also sports events. Meritorious students can avail scholarships sponsored by the Alumni Association.
