Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

Placement Experience:

For placement final year students are eligible that is from our 7th semester and for internship it starts form 5th semester . Various compaines visit campus for freshers such as Microsoft , Wells Fargos , Oracle , JPMC , TCS etc . Package can vary from 4LPA to 55 LPA.

Hostel Rooms allocated to final and pre final year students, Food given in mess

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for Campus placement in fourth (final) year only . But Students are eligible to apply for On-Campus internship opportunities and get a ppo. 180+ companies visited in our campus last year (Microsoft , Samsung, JP Morgan, Oracle, BPCL, Delloite, PWC, John Deer, TCS etc.) and more than 700 jobs were offered . Highes package offered is 50 lpa by Microsoft this year, average package is rs 10-12 lpa . Overall over 80% students are placed in previous year.

Pleasent environment, Bengali culture, supportive facilities, good lab experience

Dislikes

The hostels for 3rd and 4th year is so old.
Majority Events are only bounced to club members.

Placement Experience:

Placement in a word is good to average. Every year more than 130 companies visits the campus. Campusing stars from end of 6th semester and goes till last semester. Percentage for cs/ece/me is good enough. Check college website for more details

NIT Durgapur facts

Likes

There are pros and cons in everywhere. Some faculty are great some are rubbish.
The research faculty are really well. In some sections like robotics and production engineering are awesome.
The fests are great if the student body is present.

Dislikes

The educational system is old-fashioned. There are many modernize tools are present but they are still teaching the old book syllabus.
Some of the faculty members are really not helping and make student life hell.
The hostel rooms and mess are disgusting.

Placement Experience:

The placement here is reasonably good. The companies from both india and abroad come here for placement. The company both from core and non core sectors come here. Even the psus like HPCL BPCL come here for placement. The average CTC varies from 20 to 5 LPA. The highest package in mechanical is 22 LPA from BPCL.

NIT Durgapur - A RECstatic journey to remember

Likes

Peer group that I got at NIT Durgapur, that helped me grow.
Very good senior junior relation and guidance regarding career and other aspects.
Education Quality, Faculty and the various opportunities on-campus.

Dislikes

Sports facilities could have been better.
Hostel with single rooms should have been allotted to senior students.
The location of the college is remote. Nothing much to do outside college.

Placement Experience:

Placements in NIT Durgapur are good. High-paying companies like Microsoft, Wells Fargo, etc do visit on-campus for both internship and full-time roles. 5th and 6th semester students are eligible for summer internship offers on campus. 7th and 8th semester students are eligible for full-time offers. Many companies offer 6 month internships which the college allows by giving students the flexibility of attending classes online. PSUs like BPCL, HPCL, EIL, etc visit on-campus.

My life at NIT Durgapur

Likes

Decent size campus. And a rather clean campus.
A very good hostel life and very enjoyable as well.
A good amount of placement every year as well.

Dislikes

Food quality can be improved in hostel accommodation.
The internet facilities provided can be improved as well.
The laboratory facility can be improved as well.

Placement Experience:

College placement placement give a good picture. Students are eligible in 7th semester. BPCL, Ashok Leyland, L&T, Amazon and no of offers last year made were 900. Highest package is 50Lpa. 80 percent was the placement percentage. I plan to to get a job after GATE.

Life as a student at NIT Durgapur

Placements are quite good as most of the students get placed as after completing their degree.

Dislikes

The course follows the old methods... Like in mechanical engineering we have engineering drawing where we have to draw part diagrams using pencil but in the industry everyone uses software so engineering drawing using software should be more focused

Placement Experience:

Placements begins from 7th sem which is the beginning of 4th year. Companies visiting our college are Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Wells Fargo etc. nearly 200 companies visit our college. Highest package received is 80 lpa and it is off campus... On campus highest package is 52 lpa from Microsoft. 80% students get placed at the end of placement session. I have been placed as a data analyst in an IT company and I plan to pursue my career from there after I complete my degree.

Beautiful campus to roam around beautiful sightings
Hostel life is excellent have good friends to hang out.
Placement is good. A good amount of core companies visit here.

Dislikes

Fees are kinda high for a general student.
Infrastructure need to be improved as some of the hostels are very old.
Professors from Core departments hard to manage

Detailed review of NIT DURGAPUR by a student

Likes

College is good and well maintained. Infrastructure is good but require much more work to make it better because there is always space for betterment.
Having different clubs also provide each individuals with exposer and get interaction with senior which is much required in collage.
Placement is good along withe the faculty. They motivate the students. there works just not only limited to course curriculum.

Dislikes

College should also need to give training for interview.
Library should remain open 24 hours. It is much needed as it is placed inside the campus.
There should also be different workshop on particular topic so that students get interested in a subject. That is practical knowledge is more required.

Placement Experience:

The placements in NIT Durgapur is good. 85percent student gets placed in some of the reputed companies. Big MNC's example Microsoft, Morgan Stanly, Jp Morgan, Amazon, Flipkart visits and take many students. There are many statup company comes. Placement for core branch is also good. Many PSU's take student from on campus placement. After getting a B.Tech degree I will be joinning a company.

I liked the campus the staff friends environment.
The diversity is maintained among large group of people and community.
Hostel facility is very good,Equipments are very nice.

Dislikes

Work load on the students , they have to study atleast 40 subjects in 4 years.
The students have strict time boundary. All of them has to report hostel within certain time period.
If somehow you do anything against the college rules strict action is taken against them.

Placement Experience:

From begining of 7th sem the students are eligible for placements including sufficient CGPA and no active backlogs. Also Year drop criteria is very crucial for some of the companies. Min campus placement is 3 LPA and highest is 42LPA.]

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
