SVNIT hidden Facts

Likes

Green campus and my branch that is mechanical engineering
ABVB hostel which is newest hostel at SVNIT.
club's, sports facilities and road of SVNIT

Dislikes

Infrastructure need to be improved with little faster pace
Corruption leads to poor quality of building.
Outdated syllabus for my batch, (improved for new batches)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The overall curriculum was decent for my batch but it is updated to new and better curriculum for new batch. It is well designed basically split between labs and classes. Lab runs on strength of 16 to 17 students while 55 to 60 students participate in theory classes

Overall review of SVNIT

Likes

campus life is one of the best things about SVNIT.
location of campus is very near to main city.
campus is lush green and cleanliness is also good.

Dislikes

Sports facility is something which can be improved a lot.
In library apart from course there are very less books
Mandotary attendance upto 75 percentage is a problem

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course is well structured and updated within very few years. In 1st year all branches have almost same course pattern from second years onwards branch related are start to appear.Curriculum is designed in a such way that you see its application in real world. Apart from that there is a chance of improvement in course planning and execution

SVNIT SURAT AT ITS BESTEST

Likes

I like campus it’s very clean and greenery
Hostel life here is very chill and with very less restrictions
The faculty here is very good and understanding

Dislikes

Swiggy Zomato is not allowed to Hostel gate
College doesn’t allow vehicles to keep in hostel

Placement Experience:

Percentage of student got placed is around 80 percent with the highest placement of 44 Lakh annually CTC and the average of 10 lakh annual CTC and Minimum of 3 lakh annual CTC . A lot of big companies comes for the college placement program.

Every year a decent placement take place for mechanical engineering with an average of 8-9lakh mostly TCS,lnt give placement for mechanical engineering with an highest placement of 19.45 lakh.after degree mostly mtech is best option for placement

Not Good , Not Bad : Life at SVNIT

Likes

Library: The library of SVNIT is considered as one of the best libraries of the overall NIT's among India.
CRC(Classroom Complex) : The lawn is awesome .The Students specially from 1st year spends there most of time here.
Campus and Infra: The Campus is wide having too much space and the Infra is overall satisfiable.

Dislikes

Hostel Facility: The hostel facility are not as much as expected.It lacks in terms of space of rooms.
Vehicles: The vehicle aren't allowed in campus for Hostellites.
Professors : Some professors are very strict and are annoying.

Placement Experience:

The placement are good, Having average package of 13 LPA . Now a days the placements have been affected after the Introduction of Chat-GPT. Students are allowed to sit in the placements for the coming companies.Company having sorting method as CGPA or GPA.

Maintenance of hostel is not good which can be improved
The best food of hostel is is ok ok but which can be improved
The first of our colleges are good can be best

Placement Experience:

As my college stands in top top government college in India show the placement placement is decent good if you are not getting placed you can go for mtech by giving gate or you can also apply for foreign colleges

My Journey at Svnit Surat

Likes

In my college I like the environment which I got like you will never think about home friends will always be there to help.
My college is in gujrat so I don't got any crises about the food .
College is more green so you can take fresh air and enjoy the nature.

Dislikes

About the exams they conduct after 1month and give no holiday between exams
75 percentage of attendance criteria I don't like this

Placement Experience:

You are eligible for internship after 2nd year and you got placed in 3.5 year only means in 7th semester you will get placed and in 8th semester you will getting 6months intership. Microsoft,Google,jpmorgan,amd,nividea,tata, etc depend on department average placement is 12 lpa and in our college mechanical is best placement department 95% placement. Highest package was 49 lpa and average was 12 lpa increase year by year Percentage of students get lace is 80 for all departments. I will do a startup business after btech.

The faculty are pretty strict but the club's are pretty good
The hostel life and campus life and fest
The overall vibe and the lab facilities and intern opportunities

Dislikes

The marking system is very rigid the courses are outdated
Faculties are strict and they nag about attendance
The exam system is also pretty rigid and attendance is the main issue

Placement Experience:

From 7 th sem you are eligible for placement.The placement rate is pretty decent.I will work for a while before pursuing masters average placement is 78% .the tnp section is very helpful even for funding internship opportunities

SVNIT- The good, the bad.

Likes

It's a national college, people from all-over the country means we get to learn a lot.
Hostel life teaches us a lot in life that's important.
Sports here are nice, we have tournaments like ne all india Inter-NIT.

Dislikes

The curriculum is very bad, we don't learn much.
The mess food is not upto the mark at all.
There are a lot of unnecessary rules and regulations

Placement Experience:

In my course, students sit for placements in their 4th and 5th year. Companies like Byjus, Vedantu, PW etc. often hire physics teachers. Average package of such companies are 6.5 to 7LPA A meagre 10% get placed from Physics. My plans are to pursue an MBA after my degree

Student chapters of SVNIT

Likes

Student chapters of college... and the way fests are conducted on large scale.
The great active participation of students in various competitions.
The very helpful professors and seniors.... they provide exposure for various projects and research areas.

Dislikes

The infrastructure of college is very disappointing.
Girls hostel has intime of 10.30 pm while boys dont have any intimate this creates ratio in contribution of girls in many stuff.
The very Conservative nature of dean in college dominates in some or other way.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum basically is same as other NIT colleges. Curriculum contains subjects related to course and humanities and physical trainings too... college gives exposure to so many technical and non technical activities through various student chapters .. students also participate in many competitions in india and abroad as well.

My review of SVNIT is a mixed one. It is a good choice in almost every aspect other than sports.

For sports enthusiasts, SVNIT is not the right choice. The condition of sports facilities at our college is not good. The sports grounds are not in a good shape. The cricket/football ground becomes a grassland from July to December.

The indoor badminton courts, which are two in number, are immensely insufficient to cater to around 4000 students. Each one has to wait a long time for their turn, and is given around 10 minutes to play the sport. Such a huge number of students can not access the badminton courts for sufficient durations. MMNCT is the best sports event of the year. It is an inter-year cricket tournament that takes place at night. The gym is well designed and has all the modern equipment.

Many classes are boring. But a lot of the professors, especially in the Civil department, teach really well. The marking system is very transparent, and after 15-30 days post the exams, answer sheets are made available for students to have a look. The classrooms are also very school-like in appearance. The rules are lenient, and most teachers are satisfied with a 60% student attendance.

The location is quite good, and malls, theaters, etc. are easily accessible. The campus is located in a posh area of Surat. Places like Mumbai, Daman, etc. are easily accessible for getaways. The placements are top notch, the clubs are plenty and quite decent. The mess food is quite good as well.

Unless you are very serious about getting the best sports facilities, SVNIT is a good college. But for sports facilities, I would recommend you try for MNIT Jaipur.
